Well, this makes twice.

If they are GOLD/SILVER members here I have ALWAYS shipped befor getting payment. On the other hand I NEVER expect someone to ship to me without payment or check clearance. Just how I am.
I've been guilty of doing the same, what really ticks me off is I ordered a new March with the reticle I wanted, now they are seeing if they can cancel the order!!

That`s exactly why I stopped hunting with anyone other than my father and son. When you can`t count on a friend, are they really a friend? Jeff
Thanks for the reactions. You guys know what I`m saying. Hey steelshooter. long time resident of Centre County. Did some drinken, buyin` and huntin` in your county. Grice and Bob`s. Should never left. jeff

I’ve tried selling a few things on marketplace on Facebook with garbage like this happening.

Commitment to buy, then back out then tell others it was sold only to have to try run them down etc etc.

When I worked in the retail side of this industry it was no different. People backed out of things three times as much as they committed.

I have backed out on on a couple of deals after not hearing back after multiple PM's. Had a stock not to long ago, the seller contacted me with a price of $350, made a return offer of $300. I was willing to pay the $350 but Ghost. No problem, I still have my money and I guess he still has his stock. If making a offer offends someone, don't reach out.

I would think any backout after a commitment should be advertised as such on this site.
(Barring a catastrophe)
I have only had no hassle transactions!

I too have shipped before receiving payment. Guess it,s time to stop that practice. Is sure is a shame that a great forum like this is falling prey to some "not so reputable' folks. I guess this is just the way of the world these days. Wish we could trust people again.

I’ve completed tons of sales and purchases. I have to admit that one time I settled for a scope that was close to what I wanted. Hours after I sent the PM, the exact scope I wanted came up. In that instance I called him and explained the situation. I told him I would buy his too if he wanted, but he said no worries.

Recently I sold an expensive item. The buyer explained a family emergency came up and he would have to pass. I said no problem. I ended up selling it for a higher price!

Those were the only two issues I’ve had and I caused one of them! The bottom line is with a phone call you get a lot better idea of the kind of person you are dealing with.

Dave.

I have done the same and never been burned by that, as you said, time to reeval.

Oh Dave, the guy called to tell me his "friend" found the better deal, it is not on this forum for sure 'cause I looked.

That is totally different, if the seller doesn't respond I don't blame you a bit for leaving the deal! After 3-4 days and no response, I'm done!

If 350 was what you were willing to pay, then pay it. Was it worth 350?

Frustrating as hell I agree. I have a $2600 gun deal thats pending that was done on another forum. He asked if he could pay in four installments over four months. First 3 he paid, now the last one is pushing two months overdue with no word from him.
Hope you still have the gun!

Have you never asked for a better deal on anything. It was not worth the seller getting upset, if he did. A simple yes or no is all I was asking for. Then the deal could have been made. Childish in my opinion. Won't be the first or last I am sure. Ignore button is a good thing.

I had one bad deal, on my end. I wanted something here, had to delay a couple weeks, then got the good news from my NP at the VA that my back pain was actually a Compression Fracture of L3 (lower spine). The fall/fracture occurred on 1 February of 2022. They missed the diagnosis for 16 months. I see my third NP/Dr on Halloween at 4pm. Seems almost appropriate...

What Dave said. Every transaction I have had has been flawless. But, I always talk to the person with a simple phone call. You can easily get a feel for the selling parties intentions in a few minutes. It builds trust on both ends. A win win in my book and very simple to do.

"Wife said i can not buy it" :D Heard that one to many times.
Made me realize how lucky I am !! My wife basically demands we attend gun shows and our club matches. Typical conversation goes something like this "Vendor over there has some H4350 at a good price, you said we were running low, he has a couple 8 pounders. and some 123 Scenars, how many boxes do you want me to get? I think we should get both jugs of the H4350."

Yep, I know how lucky I am.
