I was taking a cheap-shot above about the core-lokt deer hunters.But Whoa! What about our 7 1/2 primers, tell me there not going to be gone!

For some strange reason, Remington is $750,000,000 in debt. Because of pressure from the political left, some major banks are not investing in anything to do with the firearm industry. Remington tried to restructure their debt but could not find the money. Having a major plant does not mean you can purchase supplies to operate it. Having major debt means you have no operating capitol and are most likely late in paying bills. Too much of that and no one will sell you the necessary supplies.
Another major problem for Remington is the current law suit which the courts have ruled can go forward. They are being sued simply for being the manufacture of a firearm that was used in a mass shooting. With that threat sitting there just waiting for a major hit, no one wants to help them. Who wants to invest, in a company facing hundreds of millions of dollars, in settlements.
As far as hoarding, Many serious rim fire shooters will buy large quantities of ammo just like re-loaders buy powder, bullets and primers. They want the same batch of supplies, pursuing accuracy. Send a rim fire rifle to Lapua for testing and after finding the best match for your rifle, you must buy at least 10,000 rounds of that batch. A serious competitor will burn that up in a year.
Of course there are those who really are hoarding for no good reason. They go into a Walmart and buy up anything on the shelf. They don't care that it might not be the most accurate ammo for their rifle. Just like toilet paper, those who had plenty on hand, bought anything left on the shelf, not caring if it was soft or thin or suited to their septic system. I saw signs in stores that stated "No Returns on paper products." Now ain't that something? When was the last time any of you ever returned a roll of toilet paper, for a a refund.
Lastly, folks have lost confidence in Remington. At a time when dealers can't keep enough inventory on the shelves, Remington is forced to offer prices that have been discounted to a new low and additional extra rebates, on some of their most popular models.

And that is a fact! In my opinion, that was the premier bullet design for deer. I preferred the round nose as opposed to the PSPCL. ( for woods hunting).
Its written in most CEOs contracts that if they are fired or let go early for X, Y, Z reason they will receive a guaranteed certain amount of money. The board does this so the CEO is willing to assume risk and make big decision in the interest of increasing profit margins. That’s why to outsiders when a company goes under we all look and say “what were they thinking?!” Well they got paid to make a decision and it was the wrong one. It seems straight forward to us bc hindsight is 20/20. Also with remington you have to remember their audience isn’t us.
Their audience are the mom and pop general population U.S. hunters who are happy shooting 2 MOA with Simmons scopes. We are a minority among shooters. I work with guys who classify themselves as gun nuts and shoot all the time, but didn’t realize that their are other scope companies out their beside luepold, or that you can’t just buy any ammo and expect it to shoot in your gun, or the ammo with the highest price tag and velocity is not necessarily the best. These are the people remington caters to, not us. So when we see them make decisions, we think they are insane, but they are trying to sell to the common hunter/shooter.

i won't even bother buying rimfire in Qty's less than a full case. it isn't at all unusual for me to burn 600rds running pistol drills in a single range session. 15k might get me thru a summer, often times not. some of us are not hoarding, we just need enough to make it through the year / next without going broke with the astronomical prices.
The plant is ready to go and sitting on enough material to make a mint. Never got ramped up- i mean this shortage was kinda hard to see
They may not be allowed to use any of it until it's paid for.

this is my 5th "panic" and is shaping up to be a real winner. (not in a good way) I'm wondering if i bought enough to ride it out? i guess i'll find out one way or another.
its a real shame about Remington. I hate to see a company basically being held down by a tag team of politics, mismanagement, and debt.

+1 Agree, and when they did not and would not offer a 6br (or something similar) to compete with the Savage M12 in 6br they might as well have turned out the lights then. JMHO. WD
Has Remington or any of the other big names done anything of significance to cater to or cash in on the long range shooting market?
Sell it to Hornady.
5Rs, SPS tactical, XCR tactical, Sendero (older I know), 700 Long Range, and their custom stuff is awesome but I’m not paying $6k for a remington when you can get a GAP for $4k. Their issue is they keep taking away proprietary cartridges or offering them in crappy twist rates. Think if they fully supported the .260 or the .338 RUM? The 6.5CM and .338 Lapua would be “Meh” if remington went 100% full throttle with it. But instead they offered 120 Grain bullets with 1:9 twists and 250 grain core Lokts for the rum in crappy pencil thin barrels in plastic stocks. You could probably film a 700 .338 rum and watch it whip around on normal speed.

I wonder how long it will be before they shut down firearm manufacturing. whats the future of the 870 and the 700 look like-- seems pretty cloudy right now
