well my boy got his first deer with my 243 load

loading Barnes 80 TTSX with IMR 4350 45.5 grains. It doesn't kick much and has great performance. He missed a good buck at 154 yards then thirty minutes later a doe comes out at 40 yards deer was barely quartering towards us he hit it in the brisket low and bullet angled up and exited mid shoulder on the other side. Bleed like crazy and died about thirty steps from where it was shot. Massive damage.

Wondering which manual that load is listed? Mine don't show that. Is it an older manual? Just curious, not questioning that it is a good load, just wondering where it is listed.

Always great to hear stories of kids and first deer kills. Reminds me of my daughter's first deer (with a 243 also). Remember how excited she was when we found it. Brings back great memories. Congratulations, she and you will always have that moment to reflect on. Plus she is in it for life more than likely.

I emailed barnes and they sent me some load data. Max for IMR 4350 is 46 grains per the load data

Congratulations on a successful hunt! I still remember taking my son when he was nine, out for his first deer hunt. His grandparents have 300 acres of corn fields and woods. After numerous afternoons spent killing paper targets, it was time for the real deal. We went out opening day in late afternoon and got settled under an old Oak tree overlooking a cornfield. We were not there more than fifteen minutes and a doe made her way out into the center of the field.

The distance was eighty yards and he'd practiced shooting at both fifty and one hundred yards. When I asked him if he was comfortable shooting at that distance he smiled and said I'm ready. When he shot I wasn't certain of a good connect. I asked him if he'd held the cross hairs on the shoulder and he just smiled and said he knew his shot was perfect. We found her 30 yards into the hardwoods, his shot was perfect.

After standing there for a few moments he exclaimed, "this is better than any video game." He's been an avid hunter ever since.

Congratulations to the young man!
I couldn't see your pic, just the link.

And good to hear about the 80TTSX performance. I have a bunch of them loaded up for my 6x45AI (@2905), and will be putting them to work here in a little bit...

GREAT JOB getting the kids in the woods!!!
