Welcome to the Reloading Forum -- Introduce Yourself

Hello ;

New here Old elsewhere . Come February I'll have been putting empty cases through Dies for 55 years ,shooting about #7-8 longer I guess . Qualifications MANY , most importantly still retain all 8 digits with two opposing thumbs ,both ears eyes nostrils and can still count on both hands number of misfires over those decades . And as I once heard in a movie ,that ain't a bad track record for reloading #21 calibers including #3 shotgun gauges .
Early on while working and continuing educational pursuits ,I was a batch chemist for Hercules Powder industrial division ,eventually retiring from Aerospace composites work .

Hope to read learn ask questions and contribute MY experience and knowledge .
Remember one is Never too old to Learn and Not everything one reads or hears is gospel ,there's always another side to the story . A gentleman I worked with for a number of years once remarked ,

" The Cemetery is full of people who have ceased to learn ,those of you above ground have NO EXCUSE "

Long time lurker here. Got back into shooting a few years back after a long break raising 3 kids. Been soaking up everything like a sponge. Been working out pretty good, but it's a never ending journey so I come out here all the time. On that note, thanks for all the great info that everyone posts out here. Priceless.

Hello all, have been reading thru the posts and a lot of great information. Looking forward to learning about reloading. Will apologize now cause I'm sure there will be some stupid questions to come. I was a Millwright for the biggest part of my working life so in other words a Jack of all trades and master of none. My interests are hunting, fishing, woodworking, golf and would like to add shooting to the list hence the interest in reloading. I recently got a rem 722 in 257 roberts and then found ammo is scarce as hens teeth. I haven't found the exact answer to a question I have and I don't see a button for a new post. I do see start an new conversation and will try that.
Thanks Wayne

Just realized that I've been here a little while, but never introduced myself here. I belong to a family of reloaders, and we all shoot benchrest cast bullet competition. The only jacketed reloading done is for meat taking purposes.

Main cartridges reloaded are all custom wildcats, but there is more than a handful of 308's and 30BR's, and one odd ball factory 300SAUM that loves cast lead.

Be more than happy to answer any questions on cast lead loading for rifles that I can, as well as point anyone in the direction of matches if they are interested.

Would also like to say thanks to the gracious members I have met here so far.

Hi to every one,
Russ here from the riverland South Australia, been shooting for a while now but just picked up a beautiful old Omark 7.62mm. Along with the rifle I got a heap of the old F class FMJ 143.5gn projectiles, are there any old shooter who has any load data for same??? would be appreciated.
cheers

Hello, All. I'm in Austin, TX. I'm new to reloading, although I have helped my son in the past. Just started shooting again last year after 30 year hiatus. 70 y.o. this month - eyes aren't what they used to be. Just a range shooter - gave up hunting years ago. Right now only shooting at 100 yards. Looking for range to try longer range shooting - maybe out to 500 yards.

Reloading for my Savage Model 10 Accutrigger 270 WSM. Haven't been able to find new brass, so I'm reloading cases from commercial ammo I've fired. Mix of equipment: Lee Breechlock Challenger press. Everything else (dies, etc.) RCBS and Hornady.

Hello all from Bergen County NJ

Hey everyone! I go by Gio. I'm a fresh transplant from Southern California to Post Falls, Idaho.

My main interests—insofar as they regard firearms—are target shooting and obsolete cartridges. Of course, you can't shoot an obsolete cartridge at a target unless you can reload the thing, so here I am. Aside from reloading, I'm also interested in learning some basics of gunsmithing so I can maintain the family's collection.

New here Mike from Arkansas. I am going to be doing a new round work up on my .300 Win Mag, accurized Ruger with 26" Kreiger barrel 1:10 twist. I am looking at the Hornaday 200 gr ELDX with RL22 powder. My case prep does primer pocket uniformity, neck turning, length turning, primer hole chamfer, and I use the Redding type S full length sizing.
I have my first 5 powder set weight sets (5 rounds each). However after talking to Hornaday Tech support I was told to not go closer than 0.030 to land engagement. So I have a few questions:
1. Powder set first or ogive set first?
2. What is the recommended adjustment increment for the ogive adjustment sets?
3. Any other pearls of wisdom would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hi everyone my name is Dereck and I've been hunting and shooting for almost 30years now I took a break from reloading for about the last 5-6 years but am now back into it. I have started my path down small rifle loads since previously I only ever reloaded for magnum handgun and 308- and 06 length and size guns. I am also in the process of building my last do all gun in a 6.5-06 and am looking forward to getting everyones thoughts on it.

Hello and welcome. “Introduce yourself“ for this thread means tell us a little about your shooting experiences, what you have shot, shooting now, planning to shoot, how long reloading, that sort of thing.

Welcome! You’ve got a ton of experience, probably more than about 75% of our members, so we hope you will join in on the question answering. That other 25% might be able to help you once in a while too. I‘m going out on a limb here but it appears you could be a bit of a Browning fan. :)

Welcome. The 6.5-06 project sounds interesting. If you don’t get much response here, start a specific thread about it under one of the caliber-specific or gunsmithing project topics.

Welcome. Lots of people on here shooting obsolete cartridges except they don’t usually think they’re obsolete. If you have one and you have ammo or can make ammo for it, it’s not obsolete, it’s a shooter!
