Welcome to the Reloading Forum -- Introduce Yourself

Greetings all...

I am not a precision shooter by any measurement, but I have always enjoyed making the rifles I have shoot the best they can. And hopefully a few that I don’t have yet.

I am a 1980 graduate of Lassen Gunsmith program but spent much of years since then in the machining industry, now retired. Over the decades I have forgotten much of what I learned at LCC (plus a whole lot more.)o_O

This board is helping me scrape the rust off my education.

Thanks to all. ~Bob D

Hello fellow reloading enthusiasts! I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have been a casual shooter and reloader since the late 60's. Since I have retired I have been more active and over the last several years have picked up several handguns that I have been enjoying and a few weeks ago added a 6.5 Creedmoor to my small rifle collection. Looking forward to learning more and enjoying some good discussion.

HELLO TO ALL:
JUST WANTED TO SAY HI TO EVERYONE. I RECENTLY FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS SITE BY A FELLA WHILE RESEARCHING LOADING TECHNIQUES FOR 260 REMINGTON I AM DOING LOAD DEVELOPMENT FOR MY FREEDOM ARMS BREAK OPEN PISTOL IN 260 REM. PLAN ON SHOOTING LONG DISTANCE UP TO 1000 YARDS (I HOPE) I AM NOT NEW TO RELOADING BUT RELOAD PRIMARILY FOR HANDGUN AND STARTED BRUSHING UP ON RIFLE LOADING BEFORE I STARTED. ANY HOW I HAVE SOME LADDER LOADS WORKED UP AND HOPE TO GET OUT TOMORROW AND TEST OUT. I HAVE A RIFLE SCOPE MOUNTED ON IT AND LEUPOLD JUST PUT A TARGET KNOB ON IT FOR ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT IT HAS A SMALL TARGET DOT RETICLE. THAT'S ENOUGH RAMBLING HOPE TO HEAR FROM SOME OF YOU ON THIS SUBJECT.
THANKS MS

Jack Dickson 74yr old grand senior. Live in Tullahoma, TN and shoot at the Arnold AFB range. I shoot a Savage model 12 .308 FTR topped with a Sightron 8 x 32 scope I shoot FTR 600yd Midrange and 1000yd Long range. Recently had the shot our stock barrel replaced. with a Krieger 29" barrel. Dont shoot the best scores, but I am in this for fun, not to win.

I have been reading here for a while, and have learned a lot. I started shooting F Class last year and if I remember the material the Match Directors and High Masters listed this site as an excellent reference site. My first bolt gun was a Savage Axis in 6.5 Creedmoor from Rural King, it came with a weaver scope with just plain ole cross hairs. So I started looking for ways to improve it. I bought an MDT Chassis, then a Vortex PST. Learned to shoot a bit, one of the F Class guys watched me shoot at 200 yards and invited me to try the competition, then my wife said to me "Honey, if you are going to shoot competition why don't you buy yourself a rifle for that". My Jaw dropped and off to the local store I went. I had looked at the Ruger Precision, a Remington 700 but decided on the Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor. I shot Hornady Factory Match for the first two matches while I studied and practiced on dummy cases. My first shot with my hand loads, I think I had my eyes closed, and my coached laughed and said I shot a 10. So my first match was cold windy and overcast, I shot a 475. By October the last match of the year I shot a 570. So I owe you guys much thanks for the mentoring even if you didn't know you did it.

I started in Law Enforcement full time in 1978 and still work a day or two a week doing prisoner transports. Have been reloading for awhile now and I occasionally buy reloading things from people who are getting out of the hobby. I then sell these items.

Welcome to allayouse new guys!!

I just happened to notice all the new posters on this thread and want to say congratulations for finding us and coming on in. This is a good bunch of guys and gals, and there is tons of good solid experience among the membership. Also I haven't met a person yet that didn't have something to offer, -- so thank you for joining. jd

On behalf of us crusty rusty guys, welcome aboard! Lots of new introductions here. JD, thanks for seeing that and saying hello. Enjoy the best shooting site on the net. Contribute, learn and listen. lots of helpful and respectful folk here.

hey yeah... welcome and watch out for those two above. they are a couple of characters.

i started in early 1970s, am always amazed how little i knew (and know) but at least the info was typically print published and one didn't have to sort through the internet 'fake news'.

if someone says something dangerous on here, they get called pretty quickly by the extremely experienced pros/shooters/loaders/smiths/competitors/manufacturers you'll come into contact with.

Hi,

I am a German sport shooter. I reload 6.5x55 and .357 for rifles. In near future also .44-40 with black powder. I also shoot muzzle loader rifles and pistols.

Hello,
I have been reloading since 1981, started out with a Lee Loader in 38 spl. I sat in the barracks and would load 38 special ammo for a Colt Officers Target model that I had back then. I am in to reloading and been an accuracy nut for some time now. I have lurked on here for years and finally decided to pony up.

Checking in form Long Island NY wanted to say hi, started reloading in 2018, still new. Loading 38, 357 will be starting 9mm soon. Great site.

Hey there, newbie here. long story short i picked up a RCBS kit a few years back and just as i was getting into it... life changed and had to out it away for a while. now ive got it set up again and looking to start a seemingly great hobby once again. As for now i will be loading .223, .308 and hopefully 6.5 in the not to distant future. looking forward to having alot of questions answered by some folks that have doing it for years. cheers all.

New here from North Central Arkansas, by no means a great shooter, hope to get some good info here.

Well, old guy here and I just stumbled on Shooter's Forum via a google search. I started reloading in '69 with a Lee Loader, 100 CCI primers, 1 lb. of Bullseye, 250 generic cast bullets and brass I scrounged from the police range (they didn't mind if I only took a few). Lost all my equipment during a messy divorce 10 years later and took off a few years of reloading. Restarted in '88 and have progressed since. I have 4 presses, one Lee turret press and currently load on a Forster C0-Ax. I reload 90% handgun ammo and cast most of my bullets. My favorite cartridge is the 44 Magnum and I now have 5 of them. Lately I have been going small, I recently purchases a 380 Auto, and just two weeks ago got a Beretta 81 in 32 Auto (7.65 mm). Looking forward to different opinions/experiences...

I am looking forward to learning so much from all the veteran reloader here in the forums. I just set myself up with a little Lee Precision reloading set up. I’m starting with .223 because that’s what my inventory is the shortest on. Thanks again for everything. Hope your ready for many questions.
