Welcome to the Reloading Forum -- Introduce Yourself

Hello everyone, I live on the central coast of California and like to shoot ground squirrels. I shoot 22-250 AI with an 8" twist barrel and a 6PPC HV. This site is great. Thinking of adding a barrel to the PPC rig in 6mmBR with an 8" twist for the heavier bullets. When it stops raining here I'll be shooting the little critters in the 100yd to 500yd range to help out the ranchers. Keep up the good work!

Hi All,

Newbee KC Hunter here,

Just acquired a Lee bench mount ram and dye set for reloading 35 Rem shells. I bought the capability in response to the 35 Rem ammo crisis. I purchased some once fired brass from an on line auction site and will be loading Hornady LVR XTP bullets with Hodgdon LVR propellent. Nice to be a member and I look forward to rich discussions in this subject matter.
Welcome, check out the reloading forum as well as the hunting forum. Lots of good folks on AS

Hi everyone. Just joined the forum. I've been a reloader since the mid 1990's. Started out with 12 gauge for trap shooting and moved to rifle/pistol not long after. Always looking for new ideas and good old advice.

Kind of an oddball caliber lover. Have a sako 75 varmint in 6ppc. Another Sako Vixen in 222 rem magnum. Love the 9mm, 45acp and of course the AR15 platform. Looking forward to gaining knowledge from folks here.

Hello fellow shooters. I'm glad to be here once again. I learned a lot last time I was here. Hope to learn lots more. I also go by noremaximus. Have a great day

Longtime shooter, non-reloader. Have always found good factory match ammo satisfactory for the club matches I shoot to 1000 yards.

Considering starting reloading to be able to feed my Dubiel Arms rifle built for Elmer Keith on a Remington Model of 1917 action in .280 Dubiel Magnum. Hoping to tap into experience here.

Thanks! Surprisingly enough I have found bullets, primers, powder, and sized brass. Now just have to figure out what equipment I need and how to use it. I suspect the long pole in the tent will be finding or getting custom dies made.

Had one lesson learned already. Just after I bought the rifle and before I had specs for the cartridge, 2 .280 Dubiel rounds were advertised on Gunbroker & I grabbed them. Turned out to be 7mm/300 WBY Magnum wildcats that are completely unusable (see photo) & the NC gun shop that sold them won't accept a return because they listed them "as is!"20240209_143634.jpg

My name is Roger Kneeland, and I am real new to being involved in the Shooting threads. I’ve been shooting for about six years now. Primarily I’m shooting bull’s-eye and military bolt matches. I’ve gotten really interested in shooting some 3 x 600 matches with a AR 15 style and others. Hopefully I will learn enough to shoot a lot further.
This may be a beginners question. If so, it is, should I measure my lands and grooves for each different bullet weight that I wish to shoot both in 223, and in 30 caliber, if they’re at different billet weights.
Thanks
Roger Kneeland

Scott here have not officially started reloading but I am collecting all the consumables needed. 380, 9mm 45acp, 556/223, 7.62x39 and 308.

Hello all,
Been reloading for 50 years, since a teenager with my first HP rifle, an Interarms K98k, using a Lee Loader one at a time with a mallet.
Now, out of Highpowers shooting, out of hunting, but still shooting my collection of old, oddball, milsurps and hunting rifles. Yep Sir, I've got ARs from from the end of my highpower days, but they stay in the back of the safe and never seem to see the light of day.
Was a Marine armorer at one time, so I tinker a lot, but no more rebarreling ARs, Garands and M14 clones, just shoot what I've got here in retirement.
Great resource here, I should have stopped being a lurker long ago.

Hello,

I've lurked and read a lot of good information. Figured I'd post here first to introduce myself before posting a thread. I've been reloading since about 2006. I got started mostly to save my very little hard earned money after making a questionable choice by buying a Tikka T3 walnut and stainless chambered in .270 WSM. From day 1 i was able to make 1 hole at 100y with factory ammo and always loved shooting the rifle but at $43 a box in 2006 it was HARD to afford. I bought the rifle for plains deer hunting. Where we hunted you could jump a deer at 50y or 300y and having a flat shooting accurate rifle was invaluable.

Fast forward to a few years ago with less demands on my hard earned fund I've added a Marlin 336BL .30-30 and Tikka T3x 6.5 CM to my arsenal and have started reloading for means of finding a more accurate load, in addition to going all copper for hunting loads. Moving off the plains into woodlands the 30-30 took over as the deer rifle and the 270 WSM hit the safe cause i got sick of having a sore shoulder.

Hello,

I am new to this Forum I am wanting to get started in F class shooting looking at FT/R to start I have a savage model 12 223 I want to start with I live in
SW Mo

I’m from northern Utah. I am an avid hunter/ shooter and a huge 17/20 caliber fan. I mostly hunt varmints and small game.

My name is David W Hall and I just stopped in to check this section of AccurateShooter out. I used to reload for people when I lived in VA. The gun shop owner let me use his equipment to reload for his customers (of course he took a cut of the price that was charged) but I thoroughly enjoyed it and because of how meticulous I was at it his customers were asking for me to reload their ammo over him doing it. I hope to learn a LOT from you folks in here and hope you don't mind me asking you questions! Thanks for your time and patience!

Hello, J’dubya here, used to reload 12ga for skeet and 38/357. Am ready to get back into reloading 38/357 again since now retired and have more time. Originally from Indiana then to Atlanta, now retired in Florida.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and just started learning how to reload .223 for my 14.5" AR-15. I'm sick of having to pay an FFL in CA $20-$30 just to receive my ammo, it's already expensive enough with shipping, tax, etc.. I also want to clone 3 different types of home defense ammo that I have done a ton of research on but are hard to find/super expensive in 5.56 loads:
  • Barnes 50gr TSX loaded by Black Hills in 5.56
  • Speer 55gr Gold Dot loaded in 5.56 (I bought some of their .223 loads to take measurements on) These bullets are impossible to find so I will hold off on this for now
  • SMK 77gr loaded by Black Hills in 5.56 (MK 262 clone)
I have load data for the above 3 but if people have some of their own I'd love to see what they came up with! The powders I will load with are AR-Comp, 2000-MR, and TAC.

As far as equipment goes I'm currently using a Lee Breech Lock Hand Press which is ok but hard to FL size on. I will likely upgrade to an O press within a month or two if I keep the reloading up and actually use all this stuff consistently haha. For load data I have a Lee reloading manual and have binge watched a ton of Johnny's Reloading bench (in particular his Mk 262 clone videos), Bolt Action Reloading, etc. channels on YouTube and cross referenced their loads with info found here and other forums.

Good day

I am Jan from sunny Souf Efrica. Been reloading from the ripe old age of 14. In all my years I've learnt there is always more to learn. Please be patient; sometimes I say stupid things.

Been shooting mostly Bisley (Palma) style with .308. Recently started to use a scope for .223 Varmint and a .308 hunting rifle.

I have a non-trivial amount of my disposable income tied up in reloading gear and components. My aim is to make good use of it.

Hi folks, just a lad from Scotland with a growing interest in F Open and LR steel bashing. This has developed after many years of deer stalking and game shooting, both of which I still enjoy.
