weighted butt plate?

I have a Dima stock and I want to add some weight to the back of it to balance it out, probably around like 1 or 1 1/2 pounds. Does anyone make weighted butt plates? I was thinking about buying some stainless 1/4 flat bar and cutting 2 pieces and making one myself, but i doubt itll look nice, unfortunatly I'm not seeing anything online. Any ideas?

I had, I just didn't want to drill into it, but that seems like one of the likely options going forward.

I'm with AlNyhus!!! Adding MASS to the rifle will reduce RECOIL!!! But, adding mass forward of the center of mass (the balance point) on the rifle will also reduce LIFT!!!! The butt plate is the pivot point of rifle lift!! Moving it forward of the butt plate is better!!!

On my target/varmint rifles, I barrel rasped deep 1/8"-1/4" down, not out, and full lug to forearm epoxy bed with Lab Grade Fine Iron Filings added to the resin!!!! The fillings add weight and greatly reduce epoxy shrinkage!! Infact, on one of my rifles, I had to mill a tiny groove on the front side of the lug in order to separate the stock from the lug!!! Yeah, after a few days of lug being mated to the lug dado, a vacuum would form when trying to separate for cleaning and storage purposes!!! Free floated the barrel back to the chamber/contour point on the barrel!!!

Kevin, I've done a pretty fair number of the weight tube systems, including some short double tube setups...which I really like if the butt profile will accommodate it. Here's some pics of several for some ideas. Tungsten/copper round (80/20 to 70/30) is a very good material for a weight. A nose heavy gun is a nasty thing.

Mike Ezell @gunsandgunsmithing makes some really nice ones using carbon fiber for the butt plate. He's posted some here lately. Hope this helps.

Kevin, here's a thread on one I did for my pal @jimmymac.

I did the initial stuff and Jim did the final install. His approach will give you some good ideas. On a solid butt (assuming it is on that Dima?), you wouldn't need a tube at all, of course. Having the weight under compressions so it's both pushed back by the gun and pulled back by the butt plate is very important. Mike Ezell's drill jig idea is slick. A Forstner bit rather than a drill bit for wood, obviously...and maybe some other cutting methods will work too.

Stock weight system project

Recently, @jimmymac and I worked up a weight system for his LV gun (10.5 lbs) to bring it up to HV weight (13.5) and better balance it. Jim sent his butt plate and a piece of .750 O.D. tungsten copper rod 8" long to use as the weight. Here's what we did, in case someone is looking at doing...
