Weighing primers ..bored...

Never even heard of weighing primers till now. Right, wrong, dumb, smart, whatever: I think it’s cool when someone thinks outside the box.

If you give up the adult brew .... You'd have several hrs to weigh your primers !
I weighed 600. In the last pack of 100 they were all over the place in weight. The previous packs kinda had a flow about them. Up, down, back up, down again.
I've ran machinery that had to be monitored and adjusted through its runs. I see that as how these might be done.
Sometimes the operator is good at keeping it in specks sometimes he's not.
I imagine QC takes samples. If samples are good the run is considered good to go. That doesn't necessarily include the very beginning nor the very end of a run.
In this case the last pack one weighed the least and the one right next to it weighed the most. Of course the packs are square.. What's the up direction on them ......

I believe I will do just as well drinking a beer in a couple hours than your wasting your life weighing primers.
Man, what a boring life.

Now fellow, no-one threw a cut your way.

Lol ! Strange that Wasting time is not included with your drinking. I thought that WAS what drinking was all about ....

Don't be messing with Butch!!
If you don't have a drink in the evening, when you wake up in the morning; that's the best you're going to feel all day...
A cold one, and a good Maduro Cigar, that's a reward for a good day.

Young feller, would you give me a list of the winners of any shooting sport that weighs primers?
You are quick to judge people that you know nothing about.

What percentage of the primer weight is the actual priming compound?

It seems like what you are doing weighing primers is trying to be sure you have consistency in the weight of the priming compound. It is like weighing a pistol cartridge with a nominal charge of three grains of Bullesye powder and trying to measure the variation in the weight of powder.

Butch, theres a lot of "winners" in 1kBR that weight...
In the ppc world I would guess no one does it along with many other things that dont matter at 100.
2 very different worlds.
Maybe you guys should meet in the middle and weight primer while drinking beer?:D

and here I was wondering if I was too obsessive because I weigh my powder charges to within a kernel or two. I went with the measuring and weighing bullets and sorting cases by volume route last year and saw zero difference in velocity consistency or short and long range groups so I quit that stuff. It could have been because of my shooting ability or that I was not using a lab grade scale but it only took a couple of tests for me to stop bothering. I never even considered weighing primers. Loading as sloppily as I do with no weighing other than the powder it's amazing how I still manage to get consistent SD's in the single digits
