recently i purchased this scope second hand but it had never been used. my problem is that the AO will not turn. i noticed that there is a small phillips head screw in the AO, does anyone know if that screw needs to be removed before it can be used? unfortunately there were no papers in the box. thanks in advance for any help or advice.

No, I don't think that screw needs to be removed, at least it didn't on mine when i bought it a few years ago.

How much of the AO's threads are showing right now?

Have you checked to see if the lock ring is screwed down tight against the AO's housing? It's just in front & not very wide at all.

The Weaver lock ring is behind the adjusting ring.

The AO is set at 50ft and the locking ring is loose but I have tried turning the AO with everything except a 48" pipe wrench with a cheater bar. Even my gunsmith was stumped on this one, so I will either buy a new one or pay Weaver to fix it. I guest i could use it on the indoor pellet range.....

I called Weaver,I'm hoping there won't be any charge since I didn't have a receipt) and the scope is in the hands of UPS but the customer is responsible for S&H both ways. Guys thanks for all your help, I will try to post pics of rifle, scope and target once I get out to the range.
