Weaver parallax adjustment

I have a Weaver V24 and when i use it at 100 yds, measured)i have to set the parallax adjustment to the 200yd setting so the scope is in focus.
This scope is a great buy and you get a lot for your money. I have it mounted on a Encore 223 cal and this is a great walking varmint rig.

Most of my BR Nightforces don't match the marks either. Very few AO scopes line up correctly with those marks. The NXS scopes don't even bother with them.

I glance at the marks as a matter of curiosity only, usually after I get up from the bench, rarely when I'm actually focusing. It doesn't really matter what the scale says, only what your scope and eyes are telling you. -Rod-

jb77, have you set your rear focus?

Set your parallax adjustment to infinity. Point your scope at the clear sky and adjust the rear focus until the cross hairs are perfectly in focus. Now go back to the target and set the parallax ajdutment to 100 - does it still need to be adjusted to 200?

If so, don't worry about it. Youv'e done allyou can and this will not casue a problem.

I know I am a Type A too!

Yes i have set the rear focus. You hit the nail directly on the head. I want markings and scales to actually do what they are supposed to do. Ha ha ha.

I tend to want to hold people to their word and their advertisements.

Excellent point on focusing the scopes though. Thats why i think this is a great forum, knowledgeable folks who are not afraid to share their knowledge.

There is a technique used by people that use the same scope to shoot at different but consistent distances in matches. They put a piece of white tape on the scale portion of the AO ring and after setting paralax at a specific range they mark the tape with an index and distance, then move to the next yardage. What they have done is make a paralax scale for their individual scope and eyes.

It's funny you should mention that. When I mounted my old Simmons onto the 6BR I tore off the old duct tape that I'd used for a scale when the rifle was a .243. I don't know if I'll have to tape up the Sightron now that it's on the 6BR yet. Hopefully I'll find out this coming week. Good thought. -Rod-
