Weatherby moving

Cost of living

Cheyenne is 40% cheaper than Los Angeles.
Housing is the biggest factor in the cost of living difference.
Housing is 66% cheaper in Cheyenne.

Fewer fires and mudslides, fewer hoodlums and thugs and cleaner air and water in Wyoming.

I don't see a downside.

For an employee, it's a tradeoff. For a business, it's an increase in profit. Nothing wrong with that. When I moved to PA, my state income tax was much lower. Our property tax (1%) increased by 65%, though the cost of living is a bit less.

I lived in Wyoming for many years. Someone said housing is cheaper in Cheyenne. Who wants to live in Cheyenne?! Cost of living is cheaper...Maybe, if you have a good job. Wages aren't very high, thus the cost of living has to be cheaper. If you are involved in the oil/gas industry, then you will enjoy your lifestyle. I was the president of our local food bank for a few years. Believe me, I know many people living in Wyoming that were hard pressed to make it. I was fortunate enough to have had a good, steady job and I enjoyed my years in, "God's Country". At my point of life I wouldn't move back because of good medical care, (or lack of). However, the fishing, hunting and most people are great. Oh, the hunting!! So, be careful. As the old saying goes...The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side!

CNBC just rated Wyoming as the 6th best state to retire in. Not sure what the healthcare is like in Casper, but if you can't find a doctor you like in the southern part of the state Fort Collins is just down the road. Yeah, I'm looking at Cheyenne or Laramie to retire in.

My wife and I acquired 17 acres in Jackson via a trade. My labor for the property. Though it is surrounded by a fence, there are zero signs posted, and the gates are never locked. Once my wife retires, that will be our home.

Worked with a guy from Wyoming. Asked what the weather was like there. His reply? Clear and still. Huh?? Snow is Clear up to your a$$ and Still coming down. Cold enough to freeze the balls off a pool table.
No different then other places. Erie Pa. had over 100 inches in a week and snow storms after that. It stayed at zero for weeks straight. Matt

You can dress to stay warm. You can't take off enough clothes to stay cool.

Well, it looks like 50-70 fewer families will be visiting your food bank in WY. Since I was born in San Diego, let me tell you about all the drugs, illegal aliens, absolute crap schools, traffic, earthquakes, highest income tax rate in the nation, infrastructure falling to pieces, etc.

Everybody says, "oh the beaches, I have to live near the beaches. . ." Then ask them about the last time they visited one: "last spring" or something like that is always the answer. Oh, and La Hoya is over a mil for a postage stamp lot with a 1000 sq. Ft. Home built 70 years ago these days.

Mu wife is from Laramie, so I'm pretty sure the grass, in this case, is much greener for Weatherby; especially since the thieves in Sacramento decided they would steal the federal tax cuts that businesses located there would be receiving. Happiness is: California in the rear-view mirror!
