Weatherby Mark V build - need some help out there

Hello to Weatherby aficionado's out there,

I am considering doing a custom build on a Mark V action, chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum. Here's what I want to acheive:

1. Find a used Mark V action with a 257 - 340 (magnum boltface).
2. I plan to fit a heavy barrel on the new rifle. So, I will search for a used #3 or #4 contour inlet Weatherby stock - preferably a Euromark. Now, I understand that the #3 and #4 inlet stocks usually were, and are, reserved for the 378 through 460 Wby Mags. So my question is: could a standard length Mark V (257 through 7mm) or even a magnum length (300 or 340) Mark V action be inletted into a #3 or #4 stock? I don't mind doing some additional glass bedding and inletting work to make it fit, but do want to avoid performing a hack job.

Lastly, for anyone who has a #3 or #4 contoured stock, can you tell me what the inet barrel dimensions are? I would like to see if a Remington Sendero-sized barrel would fit. I will probably have a Hart or Lilja barrel fit onto a trued and squared Mark V action.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Jason

Jason,
Different manufacturers have different dimensions and number them differently. Go to Shilen's and maybe Lilja's website and check their contours. The muzzle needs to be about .125 per side larger than the bore.
