I will soon to be putting together a 270 Weatherby magnum. I need a chamber reamer and was thinking about having one made with less free bore. Interested to hear everyone's thoughts on standard Weatherby free bore vs. less free bore. I have several Weatherby rifles now and two of them shoot just fine, one does not. Always read in reloading manuals to seat bullets out further for better accuracy with Weatherby's. Also hear/read about guys doing away with extra free bore.
I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that the factory did this to cut down pressure and maybe recoil??? I don't believe a 270 has unmanageable recoil for me. I don't intend to load outside safe parameters and I doubt free bore does anything to stave off throat burning. Biggest question: free bore on a custom Weatherby build...should it stay or should it go???? Thanks in advance for any information, it is greatly appreciated!!!!
