Is this action any better than a R700? Is it worth consideration ?

I read a review that stated “This is the action Remington should have made all along”. I’ve only handled the 307 action but to the naked eye (for whatever that’s worth) the fit and tolerances seemed a bit more precise than the 700’s I’ve looked at. The tenon threads definitely looked much better. But assuming all other things are equal I’d opt for the 307 simply for a superior extractor design. Is this action any better than a R700? I have. Was not impressed. I picked three up and they all ran rough. I picked up a ruger american gen 2 and it was more smooth.Anyone laid hands on one?
I don't know what people see in the Ruger American, I mean it's got all kinds of wonky stuff going on, Like the trigger? That's goofy, The bedding system is just weird, Plastic everywhere.I have. I agree with you, that's why I expected the bolt to run a lot smoother than on a ruger american.I don't know what people see in the Ruger American, I mean it's got all kinds of wonky stuff going on, Like the trigger? That's goofy, The bedding system is just weird, Plastic everywhere.
I do like the design of the Ruger American bolt, Except for the Plastic bolt shroud? Why do they do this? It breaks, It wouldn't cost $2.00 more to cast one from Aluminum.
I will say that they did some stuff right, Like the decision to make mini actions for 6 Arc, 7.62x39, 6.5 Grendel etc. That's what people want, Why isn't everyone making them?
I like the 450 Bushmaster chambering they offer.
The Ruger American is not in the same league as the Weatherby. I'm sure the Ruger has it's place, And if people like them that's fine, I just don't like them.
The ones I handled were something like $1,050.I like how the bolt handle is removable, I would expect someone to start making nicer ones. I think for a MSRP of $750.00, These will sell pretty well. Probably be cheaper from distributors.
I wouldn't mind having one setup for the RPM cartridges, I am going to be doing a 30x6.5 rpm in the future.
The bare actions are around 700 dollars. Wondering if they are worth usingThe ones I handled were something like $1,050.
As far as I am concerned, the 307 is entry level. It's a remington clone replacing the vanguard. For a couple hundred more you are getting professional grade. For $700 I'd say you are better off with an actual Remington, tikka, or even a nicer savage. I will say, if you were comparing it to a straight remington, you do gain .175" for seating depth due to the longer mag box. I'd say that's about the only thing you are gaining. No dog in this fight though. The bare actions are around 700 dollars. Wondering if they are worth using
In their pics that looks like a different setup than the 307 Builders Action. It also says Build to Order. Does that mean none in inventory which is a problem with them some times? You can get a ptg blueprinted 307 action for like 360 bucks today, they are 25%off
