We lost a great competitor and a wonderful person.

We are all diminished with the passing of Faye Boyer. She was in Canada supporting her husband Tony who shot for the USA team. She was loved by all who knew her and she was the only lady in the prestigious Hall of Fame for short range Benchrest. She was never arrogant and always humble. She will be missed very much and I send my condolences to Tony and the rest of the family. James Mock

We are greatly diminished...

Many years ago, I went to the Super Shoot with Russ Hayden. I had picked up a 40X 6PPC from Fred Sinclair on the way. There were some issues with the durability of the the PPC brass then, guys were wearing out a set of cases in a 5 relay match. Sometimes holding the primer in to load and close the bolt on the 5th. I had the chance to sit behind Tony and watch him shoot the day before the SS started. He would shoot a 5-shot group, then switch barrels, and repeat the process. I got up the courage to ask him why he was doing that rotation with six different barrels. Fay turned to me and said "He has six new barrels (LV & HV) and is trying to see which one (of each) wants to win the SS this year.". I just nodded like I knew what she was talking about. They were discussing whether their supply of brass would hold out. Fred had included 500 brand new pieces of PPC brass on our deal; and I just asked if they needed some. Told them I could give each one 50 pieces. Fay got up, and in that soft WVA accent said, "Richard, I could just kiss you." Tony turned around and said "Mother, don't get too carried away..." I went and got the brass for them. He won, that was the year, iirc; that Tony had triple bypass surgery three weeks before the shoot.

Fay was an amazing woman, she often out shot Tony and the rest of the boys.

I've known Tony and Faye for over 25years. Several years ago we went to Mickey Coleman's place in Alabama. I took shooting lessons with Tony and Charlotte went shopping in Birmingham with Mickey's wife and Faye. She had a great time. Faye was good for a hug every time we crossed paths. She was a very sweet and gracious lady.
We sure will miss her.

I didn't get to meet Faye Boyer in person, but I knew from Tony Boyer's book "The Book of Rifle Accuracy" what a great part of Tony's success came from his help mate Faye Boyer. John 14: 1,2,3 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." My prayers of comfort go out to Tony Boyer and his family.
