Wayne Lapierre Money Admissions

WLP needs to be in court on embezzlement charges and anything similar. He should be charged as an individual and he should pay his own legal expenses. The NRA is not responsible for his defense. The same for any other employees or board members that may be charged. The members of the shooting fraternity have many very capable and well educated people in our group. I know we have PHD writers and lawyers that know how to discuss or argue our point of view. WLP and Harlon Carter were/are yellers and screamers. That is not the way to succeed at the bargaining table or get anything accomplished. I never 'gave an inch' at the negotiating table to anyone that insulted or yelled at me. The NRA is not at fault here, it is the management and the entire board. I'm sorry for the board members that get 'tarred with the same brush' but the entire board needs to be replaced and a new much smaller board appointed or elected. The new board members need their resume published in the "Rifleman". Reestablishing trust in the NRA will be very difficult and won't come easy, but, it is what must be done. We shouldn't blame all the employees, but all of upper management needs to be replaced.

This issue was brought to light in 2019. Oliver North was shown the door and the issue was ignored by the directors.

I have only voted for people not recommended by the nominating committee since the national match started it's nosedive. It is hard to shift the leadership when only a portion of the directors are elected each year. I believe this was instituted after the 1977 NRA revolt.

Is it possible that WLP and the majority of the board could be indicted on RICO charges? WLP and the board need to be investigated by a grand jury. No way should the members of the NRA be responsible for their legal defense. If you robbed me I would not need to pay for your lawyer. The NRA's NEW legal team should be working with the prosecutors to put the blame on the responsible parties and punish them, not the organization. It could help to re-establish the ideals and activities of the NRA back when. WLP wanted to move the NRA to Texas for a reason. New York probably has better over sight rules on non profits. That protects the membership, us the donors. I will trust the new board to make that decision, but it maybe a long time before, or if I contribute again. The people that are still members (I'm not) should contact the new leadership, tell them not to provide WLP with any legal help. He has taken enough, the NRA has provided him with enough fancy suits, he should be wearing an orange 'prison industries' jump suit.

Right now the NRA appears to be a speeding car with no one at the wheel speeding toward a brick wall. The existing BOD and the recently appointed Interum Executive VP must step on the brakes now. One could argue that the current BOD and EVP are not to be trusted to act in the best interests of the NRA given the track record of the BOD. A Court appointed individual with authority to investigate all facets of this organization and the BOD and implement needed change to reorganize the NRA might be the best solution. Bankruptsy and a grand Jury look like the only way to straighten out this mess so the NRA can emerge to continue as an organization we can be proud to belong to.

Really? I'm in WA and have never seen any of my NRA contributions used to defend my Constitutional rights under 2A. The result is that those rights are nearly gone. The only thing I've ever seen my contributions used for is the production of marketing materials targeted at getting more money out of my pocket. They are wasting my money since they won't get a dime from me until the organization is purged top to bottom.

As far as the Attorney General of NYS goes, she appears to have a valid case against the NRA. They used our money as their personal piggy bank and I don't think it ends with this case. You can't blame the anti gun crowd for the deceit and stupidity of the NRA. They screwed us all and the more of them who end up in jail the better.
It’s difficult for an organization to defend your rights when your state is run by a bunch of democrats who don’t care about your rights. My state is in the same boat, brother.

Actually all it takes is the same volume of lawsuits in support of constitutional rights as the left files against constitutional rights. That is where the money should be spent. The left has filed more lawsuits against one of the current presidential candidates than the NRA has filed in support of our rights over the last 20 years. It is left to other organizations to fight for us while the NRA spends our money on marketing materials targeting our wallets.

I guarantee Wayne has only admitted to what they already know, and have proof or recites on. The real shady stuff that was bartered and under the table will never be brought to light.

Not disagreeing with you. All I’m saying is both our states are run by democrats. The NRA didn’t take your rights away. Your politicians did. We can sue all we want. It never really gets anywhere. The left just ignores it and retaliates with more. So the only real solution is voting. I’m a life member. Have been for a while. But I can tell you my current monthly donations go to GOA and CCRKBA. I haven’t given to NRA in quite a spell. Those two seem to be driving the lawsuit bulldozer.

Those lawsuits will go somewhere eventually. They will all eventually end up in the SCOTUS and that will tell us whether 2A is a right Americans possess. If it is then all of these transgressions will be ended. In the meantime the NRA is partying like it's 1999. Did you see the list of what Wayne spent our money on? Did the board ever step up and put a stop to it?

A guy named Neil Knox was questioning a number of things about the NRA 25 years ago. No bid contracts for services being the most prominent that I can think of.

He was made a pariah and clashed with people like "you don't need a magazine greater than 10 rounds" Bill Ruger.
