Wayne Lapierre Money Admissions

What pisses me off is you know that others knew about this and let it happen FOR YEARS.
That money could have gone to fighting for our 2nd amendment rights.
But no, more corruption. Not a damn thing the average person can do about it.

I dropped from the NRA in 1974 after the then ruling party was having a scuffle. Years ago, the membership magazine was full of technical info, but it started dropping in quality content. Glad the crook was finally put in his place.

Honestly I dropped them after the Oliver north fiasco….not that I’m a Oliver north fan boy but I’ve lived by the adage “ power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely“ and what Oliver was saying just made too much sense……that’s why I believe in term limits even for a job like this…..

The NRA is still the largest most visible gun rights organization in America. It is sad what happened but like all organizations with that much money at stake power struggles are going to happen. Over the years there has been a lot to be concerned about even in the Carter years. Knox was right about a lot of things that went wrong with the organization but he got out maneuvered by LaPierre. Neal's son, Jeff is carrying the torch now and he is very capable. I'm sure he'll hold their feet to the fire. I hope the NRA can be restructured and carry on honorably under new leadership. Being the most prominent gun rights organization the NRA is a big target for the gun grabbers and that will never change.
I've been a life member of the NRA and the TSRA for many years and will continue to be.

Money and power corrupts, no matter whose name is on the door or what seat they’re in. NRA or politics they are all corrupt at one level or another.
Have a nice day. :-)

Would be interesting to know where ALL the money went. Who ALL the enablers were.
The Texas house fiasco proves there was no limit to where membership funds were spent.

Those lawsuits will go somewhere eventually. They will all eventually end up in the SCOTUS and that will tell us whether 2A is a right Americans possess. If it is then all of these transgressions will be ended. In the meantime the NRA is partying like it's 1999. Did you see the list of what Wayne spent our money on? Did the board ever step up and put a stop to it?
The board was possibly involved. This is too big.

If you want some light reading about the trial...

Some specifics about the amounts of money spent...

I personally don't know how much of this (if any) is true or to what degree, but it makes one wonder.

LaPierre has run the NRA into the ground and run thru with the $$$ to a point that lots of folks have stopped contributing to the org. I personally stopped some years back when I saw what he was doing. If the $$$ was spent for the real cause which the NRA stands for I believe we would see a much better report of actions working towards defending the Constitution and our ONCE LEGAL gun rights.
I stopped contributing after Brady and the AWB passed. The NRA helped the Brady Bill and didn't oppose the AWB with any vigor.

I started replying to their fund raising letters in their own pre-paid envelopes. I said something like, "When the NRA advocates for the repeal of the GCA and the NFA, will consider contributing more money. Until then, any money I have to give will go to GOA or other organization which TRULY works to preserve the 2A."

I stopped receiving fund raising letters. That was around 1999.

Represented a company in the reloading business once at an NRA convention. I saw Wayne and his lackeys strutting thru. In about 30 seconds I concluded he was a thief and that his hubris knew no bounds. I dropped every membership (I had four kids and wife I had signed up) with our name on it and never looked back. I learned a lot once in a church that went down due to a leader who was just like Wayne. While the folks there were great, and frankly the best church I ever attended, the leader was rotten and like Wayne, surrounded himself with people who couldn't stand up to him. Saddest thing was watching that place fly apart. I see similar for the NRA. However, I don't think the NRA has been THAT effective for some time, so I am not sure it will be missed (as far as it goes now). There are other organizations that could replace it. And should.
In the mean time, we who once gave our money should be the first to raise the hue and cry for Prison for Wayne. (and not one board member should remain. )

Went from a yearly member to a life member and then 10 years ago to an Endowment member. That’s it for me NO MORE !

Having attended the SHOT SHOW for the past 18 years and seeing Wayne sucking up to the rich & famous every year. What a sad commentary to what he has done to a great gun rights organization. He needs to be held responsible.

Now that Wayne has confessed to some of the money he misspent has he offered to return any of it? If so how much? Has he refused to accept his retirement and his golden parachute to make up for misappropriated funds?

I am stunned by his blatant theft of funds from us. He made sweetheart deals for Ms Marion Hammer which is a total let down. I just don't know what to think about the NRA anymore.
