waterfowl hunt shotgun for wife

My wife has a 20 ga. 391 Beretta in a youth stock that she likes a lot and shoots well. The gun comes with shims for the butt stock which lets you adjust pitch and cast off which helps a lot.

There are several made specifically for women as well. I can't find any gas autos by Beretta, but I know Franchi makes the Catalyst line that is an inertia gun. Inertia guns tend to have a bit more recoil because they are considerably lighter than a gas auto and none of the gas pressure is contributing to cycling the action. Good recoil pads make a difference. Both my 12 and 20 Franchi's wear their TSA Gel pads and they make a difference.

If you are wanting to save a few dollars the new semi-auto weatherby element 20ga is nice. Operates the same as the benelli's. I duck hunted a little with it this year and was pleased with it. Nice light gun with very little recoil. Good luck with your search!

Handguns and shotguns are all about personal ergonomics. Give someone a shotgun that doesn’t “feel right” and they will struggle.
