Wanna see a BAT Drop port

Stunning rifle! I am considering a drop port and have a question about them: does the live round ever slip down into the drop port? I haven’t inspected one in-person to see if there are features in the design that mitigate or eliminate that risk. Or do you have to slide the live round into the front of the action/chamber area to a degree in order to mitigate or eliminate this risk? Thanks

I have never seen a loaded round drop from the port. The opening is approx. the size of a fired case.
Just place the round in the trough and push bolt forward pull trigger hit target draw bolt back drop out.

Thanks all for the inf related to the drop port. I am going to go with one for benchrest..it should eliminate the time I take to compulsively grab the brass as it’s being flinged into the ether of neck damage. If the brass is dropped straight into a soft cloth directly below the action, I should have more time to get the 5 down range before conditions change

Luv mine.

The Bat B uses a sako, if thats a concern the Nuevo uses a sliding plate and has no lug ways so its safer in general in a failure. I use a lot of both. Its hard to find a smoother setup than a drop port B.

No the back end drops in and it stays there. I saw lots of great shooters do it. The small cases can be a real pain to get out sometimes. Like, lift the gun out the bags and turn upside down or lots of time lost to fish it out. I have seen Bats, Cobras and Vipers all do it. Matt

I was also concerned about buying my first drop port but I have had no problems. To date, I have put 405 rounds through two barrels on my BAT B drop port. It is the smoothest action I have ever run and amazingly it keeps getting smoother. I can run 5 or 10 shot strings faster than I have ever run them before. As a bonus, I have also shot the smallest 1K groups I have ever shot. I suppose one can’t credit just the action alone for that but it is more likely the speed I am able to run the action. I liked it so much that I sold a brand new BAT B ejector and ordered another B drop.

Dave.
Thank you for the inf. This is exactly what I am thinking will happen and why I grabbed a Nuevo w drop port
