Walmart

I hate Walmart. Some years ago, I landed in Miami for a long road trip - north to Canada, down to Detroit, round the lakes, back into Canada then Vancouver and south down the West Coast to LA.

I needed a Sat Nav. Spent an hour in Walmart, while they looked for the person with the key for the display cabinet. Never found it and then spent the day hunting one down.

That's cool while it lasted. I'm in upstate NY and the Walmart by me never stocked anything reloading related. However they did a grand re-opening last month, and updated the entire store. I walked back to the gun section expecting it to be gone, and they updated the glass case, and put lights in it to make all the firearms look purdy. Then off the the side probably a 7x10' foot long case filled with ammo.

The local WM has the targets, cleaning stuff, etc., and a locked display with rifles/shotguns and ammo. Several years ago there was a WM in N Knoxville that stocked reloading supplies, no primers, but everything else. They cleared that section out soon after I found it. LOL

A few years ago the stores around me were getting out of handgun ammo, and had clearance prices on remaining stock. A buddy and I road tripped to a handful of stores and bought all we could find. Federal 9mm came to 8.5 cents/round. Then COVID happened and prices got insane……

I've never been to a Walmart that sold reloading supplies. Now since one of the Waltons was funding the riots in la my wife said no more Walmart. Doesn't bother me because I hate going there, to crowded.

Several Walmarts in WV handled reloading supplies, it used to be my go to for powder they were usually ten dollars or more cheaper than Cabelas . I keep slobbering over the Steven’s wood stocked bolt rifles for $383.00 beautiful wood made in Turkey I think, but at my age the Encore or Contender will last me, did buy the 270 bullets for the boat paddle Ruger 270 the wife bought me for 25th wedding anniversary 24 years ago probably never run another round thru it but I have bullets.

When Rem went out of business, Wally world had Rems on clearance. I bought a Rem 700 30/06 out the door 105.99 purchased a 770 300 wm for 54.99( sold it at a gun show for 225.00). Still have the m700.

Stopped by the local Walmart in Spencer WV today and they had most of their reloading stuff on clearance, first time I saw that, just guessing probably going to stop stocking them, haven’t seen powder there for a long time. Only item I picked up was a box of Speer 270 130 grain bullets. $17.50.
ive been in many walmarts and never been in one with reloading equipment. about the only thing firearm related i would buy there now are their cheap 22LR ammo. that federal in the milk carton shoots good in my 10/22s. the walmart south of me 30 mi took firearms out last remodel. ill have to check the others.

I got a big can of Remoil at Wally World today. They took all the firearms out of the area stores here in Illinoisastan several years back and sold them off cheap, really cheap, and I had no discretionary funds to take advantage of the clearance sale. They did have a well stocked case of common caliber ammo at pretty good prices though.

Haven't stepped foot nor spent a dime in Walmart in nearly 25 years. I loathe the place. I do remember when Walmart here in CA sold guns, but that was when we had only 1 Walmart in town. Now there are 4. Going back nearly 30 years since I remember a gun rack there.
