Walmart ammo

Not only are the announcing the end of ammo sales but asking that all customers keep their carry guns out of the store. Can these businesses keep us 100% safe at all times, in and outside their place of business? Nope!
If you see me anywhere I will have my CCW, my knife and my Surefire light on my person. Oh, and a plan for how to employe them if need arise.
This is directly from the Walmart press release:

“The decision to not allow people to open-carry in stores was made in response to multiple incidents across the country where people “attempting to make a statement and test our response have entered our stores carrying weapons in a way that frightened or concerned our associates and customers,”

Customers will still be able to carry concealed firearms in stores, in accordance with state laws.”

Open carry is irresponsible and stupid in a general public setting. The article at the link below pretty much sums up the counterproductive nature of this poor choice.

I have always chosen concealed carry. Seems I remember a news item from the Phoenix Skyport a while back where a man was walking around in the common area with an AR15 just because he could. IIRC, that man was arrested the first time the muzzle unintentionally swept someone who didn't appreciate it. While one's open carry of any weapon, handgun or long gun, may make one person feel safer it makes another one hundred feel threatened. Common sense must dictate gun owners show a certain amount of discretion and common sense.

My sentiments exactly. I covered this in another thread. OCT, Open Carry Tards. Have done zero to help the gun owners. I am starting to feel we would be better off without open carry (in most places) just to curtail the damage these guys do to our image as firearm owners (in general).

What their decision to not carry ammo for 'short barrel rifles' will boil down to is no .223 or 7.62X39 ammo, because those two cartridges are used in"assault rifles." Dunno how they'll treat .22LR ammo. So, essentially all of the ammo that they sell in quantity will go away. Leave the "hunting" calibers - the ones that Elmer Fudd buys one box every couple of years on the shelf. Once they realize that they just killed 75-80% of their ammo sales, they'll probably just stop selling ammo completely - or it will be a 'seasonal' item that shows up a week before hunting season opens up and disappears right after Thanksgiving.

Screw them.

Walmart going to continue to sell hammers? Kitchen utensils? Straws? This could be the end of Wally World if they play into the libtard handbook. Candy isles are like slow torture chamber for us fat folk.. The horror

Please remember this is not Walmart's first time to stop sales of firearms and ammo. They did it right after Hurricane Katrina. Why?
They had some big problems with ATF already and the looting after Katrina gave them an opportunity to blame it on other issues.
They reentered the market when the greatest firearm salesman of the century was elected POTUS. Why?
There were profits to be made.

Yes this is just a business decision. Trying to score a moral victory and eliminate some liability by stopping sales of something they make almost 0 money on. Of course they’ll still sell cigarettes, alcohol and junk food which they do make a ton of money on and is vastly more likely to kill.

You're preaching to the Quior Ray. Any one can harm anyone else with virtually any object. You just never gear of someone going into a school with a 32TPI hack saw and murdering 10 children. The last time I recall news about someone being killed with a hammer was 20 years ago in Laughlin when the HA's and another "club" got into it in a casino. Unfortunately firearm, Aircraft and Trains make spectacular stories, not someone being stabbed. not often anyway.

I seldom buy ammo from Walmart, I do purchase other items from time to time and will continue to do so. I think in general Walmart supports shooting, hunting , fishing and camping along with allowing absurd attire to be on display by patrons of questionable physique, and that entertains me as I shop.

Here is something else to think about. Rush Limbaugh reported a story out of San Fran. that the city council is considering naming the NRA as a terrorist organization. He also mentioned the fact, that a membership to the NRA could trigger a red flag response. Just ask how low can these people go? I hope they don`t go there.

IF WalMart truly believed in depriving the public of this ammo, they would destroy it, but we all know it will no doubt be collected from stores and sold in bulk to some corporation who will just put it back on the market.. WalMart is nothing more than a tool of the Communist Chinese Govt...

This is what they plan to do:

“Today, we're sharing the decisions we've made that go further:

  • After selling through our current inventory commitments, we will discontinue sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips on military-style weapons;
  • We will sell through and discontinue handgun ammunition; and”
A little different than your scenario.

I predict by the time this is complete everybody will have forgotten about it and they will restock- just like dick’s first attempt to stop selling scary firearms
