Walking 6br project ideas.

Being a working class man and practical in all means I was trying to figure out an inexpensive 6br walking varmint rifle. I dont want it to weight more than a standard Rem 700 SPS in synthetic stock. My idea was to purchase a 700 ADL or SPS in 308, buy a McMillian stock and rifle basix trigger, then have a smith help me pick out a reasonably priced barrel and top it off with a Leupold VX II 4-12x 40 fine duplex. I really like the look of the McSwirlys in Red or Orange and black. Any sugestions on a reasonably priced sporter weight barrel?

Kreiger, Brux,Bartlein, any of the top makers, do not skimp on a bargain barrel--cost to chamber is the same regardless of the barrel, your cost will not be $50.00 spread between the best and any other manufaturer. I would suggest you watch for one for sale on this site or another site. Your total investment with what you are wanting to do will be North of $1750.00,without scope.
