VORTEX PST GEN 1 VS GEN 2

I am interested to know if anyone has or had both the Vortex PST Gen 1 and Gen 2 rifle scopes.
Looking to see if there is any differences that stand out as to make one or the other a better scope.

Is the glass the same in both or has Gen 2 been upgraded?

Razors are pretty bloody awesome. Haven't seen the Viper2's yet. One thing, the Razor Gen 1 takes 35mm rings which are vastly less numerous on the market and can be pretty spanky expensive. Razor Gen 2 takes 34mm rings, much easier and more numerous and a little cheaper sometimes.

I have a Vortext 6-24 HST, A pst gen2 5-25, and a razor gen 1. The HST is a gen1 pst without the illuminated reticle and its 2nd fp only. The glass and turrets are identical to the pst gen1.

The PST gen2 has better glass, but more importantly significantly better turrets. The zero stop of the pst gen2 uses the same design as the gen1 razor which is much better than the gen1 pst.

I had a gen 1 and the glass was very unimpressive, I have used a gen II and it has better glass and turrets.

I would not be afraid to buy a PST gen II

The PST Gen II has 70 MOA Elevation and 35 MOA windage, whereas the Razor has a whopping 125 MOA for both. If you plan on stretching shots out really really far, the extra elevation will help eliminate your need for reticle holdover, unless that's your thing. Hope this finds someone well.

The Gen II PST has upgraded knobs with a true zero stop like the original Razor. Also better glass and good reticles. It's an all around better optic than the original. I still have one of the original 6-24 PSTs and the new 5-25 Gen II is a nicer optic.

There's a number of YouTube videos comparing the Gen1 and Gen2 PST.

Here's one of them:

* New, larger knobs
* 25 MOA per turn instead of 12 MOA per turn
* Gen2 has RZR zero stop, Gen1 has shim zero stop.
* Illumination dial moved to parallax knob from rear bell
* Both have 30mm tube, but Gen2 has 5 MOA more elevation adjustment
* Improved image quality

I have a 3-15x44 Gen 2 on my custom Kidd 10/22 and the glass is noticeably better than my 6-24x50 Gen 1. But the biggest selling point to me and other rim fire shooters is that the new 3-15 has a parallax setting of down to 20 yards and the 5-25 Gen 2 goes down to 25 yards. The older Gen 1 focused down only to 50 yards.

Gen 2 is better in all manners...definitely go gen2 if you can. I love the turrets on the G2.

Killer deal on the Gen2 5-25 currently as well - MOA and MIL available: 5-25 PST Gen2 SALE

any other questions, let me know!
