Vihta Vuori Powder in .308?

Famed Sniper Carlos Hathcock spec'd VV N540, IMI brass headstamped Paw Match, CCI BR2's, Sierra 175 Match Kings in his production Talon "White Feather" ammunition which was manufactured in Paw Paw West Virginia. I've pulled some apart and the powder charge was exactly 43.9 grains.
It shot extremely well but was a bit more temperature sensitive than Varget.
Sadly, I only have a few boxes left which are now collectors items.

Viht powders are the norm for .308 Win here in the UK. N140 is almost standard with 155s to 175s, although the double-base N540 version is also used for long-range higher velocity loads, 3,100 fps or so possible with the 155s in Lapua brass used in F/TR rifles and 30" barrels. Viht's published N140 data for the cartridge is very conservative, and UK users go well above the published maximum load with 155s.

Personally, I prefer Viht N150 with 155 - 175s. 47gn with 155s in roomy 1960s' 160gn weight Norma brass for 2,950 and 44gn with the 175gn SMK in Lapua brass for around 2,740 fps, both from a 30" 1-10" Broughton. Drop that 47gn 155 load by at least a grain for Lapua cases.

For 185s and heavier, it's N550 all the way for maximum velocity, long-range loads, although N150 is still a good choice for milder short-medium range.

We don't worry overly here about temperature effects, and that may restrict loads in the USA - considerably!

Good info on the 155's Thank you. F/TR is exactly where I want to go with this! I just have'nt stumbled over the right load for the 155 Scenars yet, where-as the 175 SMK's were a cinch.

I like N550 with 175 and up to 208. Expensive powder around here.

We have had good accuracy with the 150/155 bullets over N-133 in two barrels. N-135 works in the longer barrels also.
