Video of taking game with Hornady A-tip.

If they are like amax’s with just the tip being different I’m sure it won’t be long before they have a reputation as a game getter.

It looked like it worked well to me also.

Yes, it will work as proven by the kill. Not interested in starting a debate, but why use a match bullet when there are excellent hunting bullets available? Great you can use the A-tip for harvesting game, but should you?? I know others will disagree with me and that's fine, but they make hunting bullets for a reason.

Rather than "Testing" on some animals as the host puts it, why not fire some into ballistic gel and be able to study the behaviour of it? The word "test" isnt something I would want to include in my dialogue while hosting a hunting show and referring to harvesting an animal. I hunt plenty, I just think one owes it to the animal to go in with a bullet of known performance.

There are several ballistic-gel tests of A-tips on YouTube. The results look very much like Berger bullets' terminal-ballistics performance. See e.g.
and
. (There are others.) One reason one might want to use A-tips on game is for the bullet's extraordinary accuracy, making them (given their terminal performance at lower velocities) an appealing choice for long-range hunting. There's a thread on the long-range hunting forum containing reports of the use of the 230-grain A-tip for elk hunting. . . .

Ok, shoot a ham and see what happens when the bullet hits the bone, say 100 yards.

Back to Bergers, then back to ELD-X or Accubonds?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

Ever loose a really good buck because the target bullet blew up on a rib or shoulder blade? I have!

Stupid is as Stupid does, just because the bullet shoots small groups.

Last speed goat I shot was at 470 yards, killed with a Rem 788 in 223 with a 55g Winchester soft point at 3100 fps, flopped in his tracks rubbing his scent glands on the red wind flag that I had forgot about, drove off and left.

I am sure that some 240+ lb bucks will be shot on camera in the very near future with the A tip.

Call me a doubting Thomas, I am all for using hunting bullets on game, TILL I am shown the proof.

I am solid in Hornady's corner, I just want to see some broken bones, not just bullets slid between the ribs!
