Vibrator?

Okay, calm down, this isn't about a sex toy.
When I reload I powder up the cartridges and one at a time I rub an electric toothbrush up and down the side of each cartridge to settle the powder. I would like to do them all at once while they are in the aluminum reloading tray. Has anybody come up with or constructed any kind of a vibrating tray or table to do this. Any ideas?
Anybody?

Cheap random orbit sander?

I'll have to look into that.

Settels the powder especially when you need to fit 105% of powder into a case that should only take 100%.
@PatMiles cant you hold the entire tray ontop of a vibrating tumbler fot a couple seconds

I thought about that also, maybe bolt the tray down on the stud that holds the lid in place and let it run for 5 minutes or so.

Before somebody brings up the fact that the powder will jump out of the case while being vibrated, I cap the case with vinyl thread protectors until I'm ready to plug the bullets in as I sometimes do this at the range.

A friend has a little different method to hold the powder in. He sets a bullet of the next smaller size on top of powder charge to keep it in. Ex. 7mm bullet in 30 cal case. The extra weight would also help speeding up the powder compaction.

I do the same thing. My 6.5 Lapua favors a full serving of RL16 with the 130gr Hybrids. I vibrate singularly while the funnel is over the case neck to prevent powder loss. Nice hack with the thread protectors. I load for a slight jam and vibrating allows me to seat the bullet more consistently.

Good luck.

I use a vibrating tool engraver.. Cheap and it works..

I have the same issue with my 6.5x47. I have been planning to make a plate that will sit in my ultrasonic cleaner to hold the cases so that I can do them in batches. My idea is to use some 1/4" starboard cut so that it will fit in the cleaner, use some bolts in the corners for legs, drill holes large enough for the cases to fit easily through. I figure I can do batches of 15 or 20 this way. If you don't want the bolts sitting on the bottom of the cleaner, you could fabricate some hangers. Maybe I will get this done while off for Christmas.

How about just seating your bullets long at the bench, then seating to length at the range? The car ride to the range might settle your powder in where you need it to be. I use one of the Lee hand presses with my Forster seating die to test seating depths at the range this way.

What length drop tube are you gents using? Slow pour?
Pat,I use the area419 drop tube,it comes in 3” sections I use 3 plus the piece that sits over the neck. You can go as long as you want with this setup and it is very well made.
