Very Dirty Cases

I shot a match Sunday with a new load and my cases once fired had soot all over them. I mean all over them.

New neck tension .001
New Powder VV N-165
105's Laupa pill running at 2848 FPS
Br-2 Primer
.243 Laupa Brass cleaned with cider vinegar. 2nd firing

The load shot lights out, but you would not believe how sooty the cases are, they are dirty from neck to case head.

What gives?
Chuck

When in doubt, add more powder! :D
Got the same thing going. Really dirty cases. But they were shooting 1/4" groups. Go figure. More powder=bug holes? In my dreams! It could happen! ;)

The dead giveaway that my loads wern't hot enough was the soot back on the necks. Still working on the loads. The accuracy was "dead on" so a little hotter load will clean up the cases.
I am using Accurate Arms 2230C and this stuff is doing wonders in everything I load with it. Havn't run them over the Chrony that much yet. 100gr. Sierra, dirty cases)were only doing 2675 fps with 28.0 gr. so I know I have a long way to go. But the accuracy was putting a "big" smile on my face.
32.0gr. was pushing a 55gr Nosler just at 3300 fps,and doing bug holes. Got lots of load work to do and enjoying every bit of it!;) Got the "wants" to build another 6BR and havn't even got this one broke in yet. You might say "I'am hooked"!:D Got a shooting buddy that is in the 6BR build process and I am more excited about it then he is. Go figure!

I might add that I have a "no turn" neck chamber. I didn't want to have to mess with the cases too much.
I started using AA2230C for my M1A and my Mini 14. It has worked real good and burns real clean.
I switched to CCI Mil. spec primers for my gas guns and am using them in my .221, .223, and 6BR bolt guns also. Also loaded some 22.250 and 30.06 with good results too.
Couldn't find a listing for my .221 Fireball but I started with 16grs. using 45gr. FB bullets with super results. Got it up to 21grs.,full case)with no pressure problems. I have gone through 6 or 7 8lb. jugs so far. I like to shoot and the price was right so I keep working with it and am very pleased so far. Used some of the Varmint load data as a starting point for the 6BR and am having a ball. Just can't get enough of the 6BR. ;)
