Vertical stringing problem

I need some help. I have a Bartlien barell in .308 win 5R, 1:10 twist #9 contour (heavy varmint). I shoot 175 SMK'S on top of 44.5 grains of Varget with a cci br2. I've always got a left to right striging problem. It is just about exactly horizontal and travels 1.5 moa for the first 5 shots and then stabilizes and I cann get about 3/4 moa group. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Have you done any seating depth testing? It usually takes care of that.

No I haven't. How does that work and why dose it stop after 5or so rounds? Presently, I'm at .010 off the lands. How much do you suggest I vary the increment? Also, my apologies, the title should have read horizontal stringing...

Vary your seating depth by .003"

Do you mean it does it every time or only after you clean it?

Do you have a flinching problem that minimizes after you get comfortable? Like after 5 shots or so?

If it stops after 5 or so rnds on a clean bore it may take those rnds to foul the bore and settle down if its a clean bore before the 5 or so rnds.

This problem is with clean bore or dirty bore. I'm not flenching. I shoot every weekend off bag and bipod and it always dose it. I have just over 1000 rinds through it now and it's done it since new.

I have a Savage model 12 Benchrest in 6 Br that does the same thing. I shoot 5 and they string then it shoots great until i let it cool again then she strings again. I only have around 125 rounds thru her and have not had the time to solve the problem yet.

Other things to check but questions only you can answer:
You indicated you're certain you're not flinching. So we'll leave that one behind. But are you lining up squarely behind the rifle with each shot?
Could you be canting the rifle?
Are you using a commercial rest, sand bags, bipod, or other support?
If using a bipod, are you preloading it before each shot?
If using a bipod, is it of good quality?
How do you hold the rifle? Tightly against the shoulder with a tight (perhaps too tight) grip. Is it possible you could be holding the rifle too tightly and placing torque on the grip?
Is your point of aim consistent and are you letting the rifle settle down on the target or "muscling" it into position on the target?
Is your scope holding "zero"?
Is your scope of good quality and properly mounted?
Obviously, there's no reason for you to respond to those questions. It's just a list of ideas that came to mind when I read your post and I thought you might want to consider those in finding a solution to your mystery.
Best of luck ..... ;)

Well I appreciate all y'all's responses. 1holeaddict, that's exactly my situation. Lapua40x, I know you say not to respond, but, maybe others would be able to help with my anwsers.
I am using a Nightforce benchrest, Harris bipod and am slightly loading it. I am not chanting the rifle as I have a bubble level and its one of the things I do on my "checklist" before I pull the trigger. I lay my trigger hand on the grip and target by adjusting my sand bag.
Again, I appreciate everyone's input.

I found my action screws weren't torqued. I torqued them down and shot today. Checked them after I shot and found the tang screw wasn't torqued all the way. Any ideas other than loctite?

Blue "removable" Loctite can be your friend in this application. Does not harden like the Red or the Green.

Edited to add.......as a possible Band-Aid for the problem. Long term, diagnosis and correction are probably in order.

If a gun "walks" shots as the barrel warms, its a barrel issue IMO. I have a rem 308 that has done it since new. Its getting a new barrel.
