Varmint scope

How far is long range to you? I always want to shoot long range on everything but generally end up shooting 100-300 yds and most times that’s a long shot for me. I like a NightForce if you do a lot of dialing but if you can use stadia lines it is a lot quicker.

Well I think you’re right we’re all thinking we’re going to shoot a mile but 100 to 300 is more realistic. Wha NF would you get ? Probably better resale than some other scopes.

Ok thanks how durable are the SHV scopes i know the nxs are .

The scope Big_Daddy suggested is a good scope. 5-20 is a good power, the SHV tracks good and is cheaper than the Benchrest and nxs models. You can turn it down on 5X for a larger field of view. You can shoot one at 300 yds on 5X also. Everyone thinks they are going to shoot long ways when realistically they never shoot over 300 -500 yds. A coyote does not have a big kill zone and rarely stand still At least the ones I get to hunt don’t . SHV will hold its value but not as good a a Benchrest or NXS model. ShooterHunterVarminter = SHV

I would look for a used NF NX8 in 4-32x50 or 2.5-20x50, either would be great. If you keep your eyes open you can find one every now and then for your price if you can wait and if your willing to put in another $100-200 you will find one a lot faster but it will be worth the extra... well worth it in the end.

Ok thanks guys lots of good info I do have two NF nxs 8 to 32 & 12to 42 really good scopes only thing they are kind of heavy and I have them on other rifles but I suppose I won’t be carrying this varmint rifle around much anyways haven’t heard and one mention leupold they are lighter but do they track well that’s my biggest concern for any brand is if they track well

Maybe resale is something to look at maybe not ?

Tract scopes are made in the same factory as the big boys--they cut out the middleman--it is factory direct to them then to you--The customer service is second to none--lifetime warranty--owner answers phone every time--I gambled--got my first one--will not be my last--the glass is stunning--right up there with NF Their top of the line is around $1600 range and compares to $3k scopes I have looked through--I know it sounds too good to be true but if you look at one you will buy one--I promise.

Was looking at sightron seem to be a good scope in that price range
Great optics, rock solid tracking, lifetime warranty and serviced at Sightron's North Carolina facility if you need anything. Lance at Buchanan Accuracy is a site sponsor here and can offer very good pricing and service on Sightron scopes.

If tracking and RTZ is important, Leupold is not the box you want to check.

Good shootin' -Al
