Varmint Barrel .223

I am pumped I just orderd my 24" 1/8 twist white oak varmint/comp barrel. Moving up from my mini sass barrel. 👍 time to work up some new loads

Welcome. You will love the increase in accuracy. I bought a Stag model 6, with a long thick SS barrel, and it shoots. If you're shooting 1-200, try some little 45grainers. Fast and flat. I found near max loads to shoot best. Good luck.

In 2009 I rebarrelled my Rem 700 with a 223 Rem, Douglas Match, heavy contour 26" stainless barrel, 12" twist.

The rifle shoot sub 1/4 moa groups with tailored reloads i.e 55 Noslers, H4895, Federal 205 match primers. The ghogs have no chance if I do my part.

I have the Stag 6 as well, restocked with the Thordsen unit to clear NY SAFE Act rocks and shoals. This rifle's lower also makes a good foundation for other, shorter uppers.

I also have the Savage 11 VT (A Dick's SG Special product), and both are tied for my most accurate .223 rifle out to about 250yd (where our club range leaves off). They also like the same load (23.7gr Varget and HDY 75gr HPBTM). For factory guns and factory ammo (PPU 69gr and 75gr Match), they shoot to the Stag's 1/2MOA guarantee. If I were a better shooter, I believe they'd do even better.
