Varget replacement

Is there a replacementowder for varget ? Varget is almost impossible to get . I am shooting a bartlein 32 inch barrel 1 in 12 . My last load was lappua brass . Cci primers . 46.9 varget and Berger hybrid 155 . This load would bug hole all day .i just want to be able to pick the right powder the first time not to be wasting time and money, thanks in advance.
.

I use both 4064 and 4895 with 155 gr Bergers & CCI primers in Lapua cases but I reduce my load by at least 1gr when using 4895 compared to 4064 - then both shoot similar.

From the Hodgdon load center: H414, W760, IMR 4007 SSC, CFE223, IMR 4320, IMR 4064, BL-C(2), IMR 4895, H335, H4895, IMR 8208 XBR IMR 3031, Benchmark, H322.

In my straight 6BR, I've shot IMR 8208 XBR where I'd shot Varget and been happy. It meters like water and sometimes you can find a frustrated 6PPC shooter that wants to unload it for cheap.

8208 XBR comes in two flavors...the first lot and everything thereafter. The first lot is considerably faster. The subsequent lots are more like H4895. I've read other folks on here having good results in their 308 which is what it sounds like you're shooting.

As another noted, in the 6BR and related, you often hear about people using Reloader 15 rather than Varget in the heavier weight bullets.

If you are going to continue to shoot the 155's you could NOT DO BETTER than 8208XBR.. It is the perfect burn rate for lighter bullets in the .308, it is temp stable with the best of them and more importantly, it burns VERY clean!

Tika , I switched from Varget to 2206H (4895) about 2 years back , I also shoot the 155 Hybrids but have used 2206H with all 155 grain match projectiles for excellent results.
My 1K load is 46.3 grains BUT caution that is .3 grains over book listed MAX .
Interestingly since the switch, average velocity SD & ES have improved.
Unless supplies of 2206H dry up , I won't be switching back to Varget.

regards
Mike.

I've heard Leverevolution is essentially a smaller grain Varget and works fine.

Any one can verify this?
I can get Leverevolution and not Varget........heard the same....and don't want to jump in but would like to hear about that for a 6BR

what K22 said....IMR4064, RL15, and IMR4320 in that order...maybe BLC(2) if the other choices aren't there, Surplus WC846 you can run as BLC(2).
cheers,
Doc

Scored a jug of IMR 4320 today from Powder Valley and will see if I can get it working in my Palma rifle in place of Varget. It should work fine but you never know. I've got enough Varget to get me through Perry and maybe one match after that, so I'll be busy in late August working on Varget's replacement. This hoarding and short supply is BS!!! Varget hasn't been "always available" for several years and I know something worked before there was Varget.

Has anyone given the LT32 a good workout in .308? They have the load data online from the factory for .308 in 150 grn. and this powder is probably the most available powder I have seen. I just haven't tried it in .308 YET. I have in .223 and 6PPC. very PLEASED there. It's faster than Varget. If you havent't tried it - maybe pick up a pound and see. Just a thought.

8208 according to what I have read is not varget .It may be close but itis a completely different powder and not a exact substitute. It was remarked this way on another thread a short while back.
