Value of used Farley FA1

I may have the chance to buy a used Farley FA1. The seller is keeping his bags.

This would be my first competition rest as I am still getting into this, so please forgive my questions.

The rest was in a storage box so I wasn't able to get much visual information other than the model number.

It looked like a "joy stick" rest. Is that correct?

What would a fair value of the rest be without the bags, and how much would I have to invest to get the thing up and running, so to speak.

Does anyone have a pic of one that they can post? I can't find any pics on the web.

Thanks for any information.

Jim

I would have no idea and hopefully someone in the know can tell you the difference between the FA1 and the current coaxial II model. Seems like I have seen one or two used Farleys listed for around $750.00, but I may be wrong.

+1 on Zfast's post. The early Farley had less travel than the Coax II and should be upgraded with Shadetree Engineerings (Butch Lambert) tension screws. There are other mods top competitors make to both models and those are detailed in Tony Boyer's and Mike Ratigan's books. Sinclair offers Edgewood bags specific for Farley, but I would not recommend the reinforced bag version. They should be taken apart, cleaned and re-lubricated periodically as dirt can easily find it's way into the internals.......and it's not from operating without the joystick boot.
