Registered mail does document each hand that has touched a package. If a mistake was made on the amount of insurance, it is on your shoulders. They gave you a receipt and it is marked on the receipt. I won't go into my UPS rant.
I ship at least 5 items a week minimum and have for about 10 years. None have been lost, but one took a month for whatever reason.
