Using the LabRadar with muzzel brakes

As per the title. As one can imagine, one is less free to position the radar when using rifles with brakes due to the muzzle blast which may damage the unit or at the very least make the radar move when it is trying to collect data. Anyone with any experience dealing with this?

jlow I called the company and they were a great help because I was having problems with my 6 Dasher without a break. They told me to put the Radar closer to the end of the barrel then it started picking up the shots. Have you tried putting the Radar further back to see if it will pick up the shot.

Hi Joe,

No I have not. Just got the unit in this week and have not had a chance to go out to the range with it yet. Without a brake, putting the radar close to the end of the barrel makes good sense, but that of course is not an option with a brake, thus the question. Just trying to figure out some good options to start my test with as I am sure I am not the first person to run into this and did not want to re-invent the wheel.

I've had my LR since Nov, and have used it with a naked muzzle, suppressor, and a brake. With a brake, I place the LR about 12" to the right (or left) and about 4-6" behind the muzzle. Make sure you change the distance variable to 12". This keeps the LR from taking the brunt of the blast and still gives good results. I've run all 3 scenarios with a LR and MS3 simultaneously, and they all correlated very well.
