Using N110 with 6.5 Creedmoor

Hi all,

My first post and I believe I have searched existing threads so bear with me if I've missed something.

I've ended up with a spare tub of Vit. N110 powder. I have found some loads on the Vit. website for using it with 308 in conjunction with lighter bullets. I have been unable to find any loads for 6.5 Creedmoor.

My questions are:

1) Is anyone here using N110 successfully with 6.5 Creedmoor? If so what load ranges would be considered safe?

2) If yes to above has anyone managed to create a subsonic load using it? I'm using a 24" barrelled Tikka for reference.

Many thanks

Looking at the burn rate of N110 it is much faster than Varget or H4350.

I don't think I would try it.

It is rated as #84 on the list and Varget is #135 and H4350 is #154. H4350 is .the favorite for 6.5 CM.
The higher the number on the chart is the slower powder burn rate.

Thanks spudgun - am I right in understanding that as it is so fast burning it will not achieve sufficient case volume fill and my may therefore lead to pressure issues?

Well, the biggest issue would be pressure it may develop in the case. You may create a bomb instead of a safe round.

I would not begin to suggest a load for that powder since I only use what is recomended by the manufacture.

If it's not in print some were I don't use it.

I think most reloaders would agree with the above statement.

Why don't you contact the manufacure of the powder and see what they say?

Thanks all for your replies. I’m not going to pursue this idea any further.

spudgun - I’ve been reloading a few years now strictly using published data. You’re right - I’m not going to start breaking my own rules here. I think your analogy of creating a bomb is a good one.
