User name

I am known mostly as Wild Bill,( Capt Piffle, in LE, even though I was a Sgt,) and just plain Bill K, which is what I use on all my forum names. The "K" being Kauffman.

It’s ok but it’s kind of like an open air stadium on a cold day where the guy beside you is an insightful and avid fan of the same team and the game, but he never removes his ski mask the entire time.

I like the idea but I go by arkcomatt for my username. Arkco Machine Products is my business so arkcomatt just makes since and a connection. At least in my way of thinking. I do list my name under it though.

"Where's dad"?

"In the shop"

Raised a BUNCH of boys, all grown now but....they would ask that at least once a day. Another, wear it out question of sorts would be calling "mom". And when she didn't answer, for whatever reason, say it again, and again, and again.......

Reminds me of my Mom.
She had 6 sons all from different fathers and she named us all Leroy.

That way when she wanted all of us to;
come in for dinner, go to bed or anything she would just yell Leroy get in here for dinner and we would all come running in.

If she wanted only one of us she would just call us by our last name,,,,

Yuk / Yuk
Leroy

I’ve used SP Clark for 50+ years after getting tagged with it on the Crew Extra Board when I was a brakeman on the C&NW.

No good reason to use anything else.

I have my full name / info in my profile.

I am another that believes people that post under their real name are typically more polite (as they would be in face to face conversations) that anonymous users with secret codenames often are.

I learned long ago that the paranoid ones with the secret codenames get very high strung when advised to or asked why they don't use their real identity.

If I were to go on a liberal site where I was going there planning to post BS just to aggravate them I would use a secret codename like liberalfrombirth or something to fly under the radar for a while.
We may have liberals here posting under secret names just to do that here.

I believe that we have a few of those here. They never seem to surface in gun related topics, but are the first to cry foul at any political post. I think they troll sites like this just to cause trouble and to get posts they don’t agree with shut down. Squeaky wheels get the grease you know! At least we have the ignore feature on this site. Except for two that are on my ignorance list for routinely being rude, the rest are there for exhibiting liberal tendencies.

Anyone wearing SUIT and TIE walks into my shop and asks if I'm Dan the answer is NO,He went uptown, they might be G-men. Other than that it's really Capt. Dan the pirate.

No!!! Say it aint so!!!! what in the hell would G-men want with you Dan?????

I could believe that some folks may have valid reasons for not using their real name as a user name. Some may have a greater risk than others, and fear consequences that many of us don't have or understand.

I'm sitting in a motel room right now, using a possibly dangerous wi-fi connection, and I'm technotard to the point where I don't have a clue if I'm safe or not.

I don't have any problem deciding who I do and don't like on this forum, whether they use their given name, or their preferred nick-name.

I also don't know any real assholes who hold back, simply because I know their real name. ;) jd
