Today at the range, My gun, CZ457 Royal 16.5'' barrel, 22LR. Scope 3.5-10 VX3 Leup
10 shot groups @100yds. Gun is totally stock from the box. Not even a trigger adj.
Groups were measured at extreme spread /widest part. no subtraction for bullet diameter.

1-CCI Standard Velocity Target. 40gr LRN, 1070 fps--- 1.91"

2-CCI Mini Mag Copper HP. 36gr. 1260fps--- 2.41''

3-CCI Stangers Copper HP. 32gr. 1640fps--- 6.45''- 1.38'' 7rds

4-Lapua Midas. 40gr LRN Standard Velocity, 1073fps--- 2.82''

CCI Standard shows well in most of my rifles.Lately Eley Contact is also doing well for economy ammo.

The Midas might do great in another gun. Some guns like CCI SV. 1.91” 10 shot groups @ 100 is good and It does become available on the CCI website.
For what it’s worth, I don’t mix lead and copper bullets. Layers of different metal fouling - hard to clean.

Great gun! With a barrel swap you can get that CCI down to around 1" groups. I get a little under 1/2 inch with the Lothar barrel in my 457.

I think with the recent surge in PRS style 22lr matches there might be a market for an American manufactured "match" ammo. If research could be conducted on the purchases of match ammo in the US when Federal made theirs to now, I think it would be worth venturing back to Match ammo produced here.

I accidentally hit "Like" under your post and can't seem to remove it.

Regardless of barrel, it's very unlikely that CCI SV can produce 10-shot groups around 1" at 100 yards.

you should just be able to click the like button again and it should turn it off

Likely true. The factory target wasn't impressive @17mm for a 3shot 50 meter group. What was lmpressive were the group locations of the 3 CCI ammo types shot. all 3 landed in the same general location on the targets. 40, 36, 32grains @ 1070, 1260, 1640fps

They can't keep up with the demand for the rest of the production, so there is more chance of hitting a rainbow colored unicorn with sparks coming out of it's butt than investing in what it would take to make true match grade ammo, that everyone complains that it costs too much.

I'd been hoping that the fading pandemic would allow European match ammo manufacturers to increase their production output, but the Russian invasion of the Ukraine will probably screw that up too.... I may not be totally correct, but I'd be willing to bet a few bricks of Lapua Center-X on my belief that if Trump had been re-elected, Putin wouldn't have invaded.
AND,.. Gasoline would STILL BE,.. $2.50 ish per gallon.

I was just on the Federal website, and it looks like they are manufacturing 22lr match ammo here. The have HV and standard vel Gold medal. (made in USA on the box)

I have been going the same way since cost of even shooting my 223 bolt gets crazy. I have an Anschutz 1614 field gun and it shoots well. 4x12 leup with AO. I had a bunch of diff match ammo and found Tac-22 to shoot the best and most consistent at 100. Best 5 shot group the other day was .73. I also had a pile of win 40gr hp aussie rabbit ammo and I could get it to shoot just under an inch 5x but not as consistently at tac-22. Plus the bullets are truncated so get occasional feed issues that mar the bullets. The CCI dont fit my chamber as the casings are a hair too long. The rims are also rounder and thicker and bind on the ejector claw.
You can buy the Tac-22 direct from Norma for 10.6cents a pop. I just ordered 2000. Might give it a try. It is std velocity so it is a bit less wind sensitive than hi-vel.BC1EDC94-B023-4280-BBB8-EBE59678942E.jpg
