Unprovoked Thread Crashers

Not to disagree with the Op, but lately I have found the forum to be BETTER behaved. My mileage may vary than others. I think it has something to do with the fact that I reviewed past posts, decided self-deprecation is a good habit, then I located the Negative Nellies and the IKE's (I know Everything) and selectively hit the ignore button. Glory to God in heaven, it was like shoving a muffler in the mouth of my old Uncle Joe at the Christmas table. Suddenly all the other voices seemed sweeter. So much so that my list grew by two and now there is NO background noise. The wonderful thing? Now I can spot a thread in which they are active just by the incoherant nature of the thread. But it sure is nice to know i don't have to listen to their poo.

PS: JD, I have never found you to be unkind. But I am sure glad i am not your sister in law!!!! ;)

Snert: I don't think there's a mean bone in his body. (Unless you're a coyote) But I do think he plagiarized Larry the cable guy. It's a good joke.;) Larry prolly started a lot of family turmoils.

I've kinda learned to be a moving target when I say stuff. ;) There was that time when she told me to please think of sumpthin nice to say to her sister, and the best I could come up with was, "You sure don't sweat much for a fat girl." I never knew she had such a hook on her. jd
LMAO you go boy! When you feel bored come to my family cook out plenty of material there!

That old joke was actually told around our family before Larry the cable guy invented himself, but I've still gotta admit to plagiarizing whoever I heard it from.

I'm with Snert when it comes to self depreciation. Some folks take themselves and what they think they know waaaayyy too seriously. A lot of these dudes will never smack their forehead, and exclaim "Boy did I pull a boner!" You've gotta wonder how many divorces they've got under their belt.

I frankly think this forum is one of the mofriendliest and polite venues I've had the pleasure of belonging to. It even seems as if some of the grumps are afforded tolerance much as you would your mean old Uncle Henry at Thanksgiving Dinner. Most of us who are nearly adult in our behavior are past the point of having to prove ourselves right, or someone else wrong.

Cheers, jd

We are all human and T-Rust me, ALL of us, from time to time, make mistakes on here. When that happens I WANT someone to call my attention to it so I can straighten it out. However, HOW someone calls attention to a mistake will either make me respect him / her or considerably lower my opinion of that person. Snide, sharp remarks, even if correct, do not show "how well informed" the "culprit" is, it simply reveals a side of them that nobody wants to "listen" to. I try to never offer an opinion unless I either have direct experience (preferably) or I know of someone, who I respect as a reloader or shooter, has experience that I know of in that arena. Making cutting remarks is of no help to anyone.

Have received many very positive post on this thread. Let me first say my skin is much to thick to be offended about unprovoked thread crashers on my personal post. I am not trying to personally police this forum. I am provoked at the behavior of some posters whom I have highly respected. I too am not a tattle tail. Further more I am going to stoop to targeting a few poster with a taste of their own medicine. I feel like we should police ourselves. I have several really highly respected friends in the Firearms Industry who have quit posting on a number of the Shooting forums. It is sad to loose people of that caliber to a couple of self serving clowns. I figured that this thread might draw out a few of these folks and since Paul is following this thread I am sure he will take any action he may feel appropriate.

Ok, I'm lost.

You start this thread to complain about certain behavior, then follow up with the above post & state that you're gonna "stoop" to engaging in that SAME behavior???

Seems as though you're seeking justification for, or even asking 'permission' to, publicly air YOUR personal grievances with other members here. The thread topic is little more than a veiled excuse to accomplish a means to your own end...

I am not trying to cross swords here, but in Stud's quoted response above, I took it to mean he was NOT (typo) going to stoop to that behavior and would be policing himself. It just made more sense logically with the thread, and seemed more in keeping with is earlier thoughts. What say you Rusty? Am I reading in? Or did Fredo get it as you meant it?

I'll not suffer the company of the PC world where we must be controlled by the thought police.
The freedom to block works best for me so I'll move on to find a new home forum.
I still understand and wish you all the very best in your pursuit of accurate shooting.

Snipper Hide and 24 hr. campfire are viable options.....very little moderation goes on there....might be what your looking for.
I don't go to either because "#&@$ you" and "%* yours" in every thread gets old fast.
The sticky " Forum Behavior Issue" on this site spells it all out.

Good thread with some good humor also which always helps a lot in my humble opinion.
I think with the political climate as it is nowadays, there is maybe a bit more tension than there used to be. I know it affects me more than I wish it did. All points well taken.
