Unprovoked Thread Crashers

Paul provides a wonderful Service to shooters new and old with the Accurate Shooter website. There has been in the past and it appears again a wave of negativity on this site and a number of other sites by some of the same parties. I see more and more folks threads crashed repeatedly by the same people. It is one thing to try to correct a incorrect thought but to intentionally interject negative opinions and/or be hurtful is being completely disrespectful and serves no purpose. We expect freedom of speech, but with that comes respect and responsibility. The old saying "If you don't have something nice to say, it is better not said" is good advice. Participation on this forum is a privilege not a right. I am neither an owner or moderator on this site, just and a participant an observer. Sometimes we should take a look at ourselves in a mirror, and consider the "Golden Rule". Paul has a couple of " site guidelines and/or Watch out guys" threads but I am not sure they are read by those who should. It will be interesting to see what gets posted to this thread if Paul lets it stay up.

If there are some problems going on currently, Please point the moderators to specific examples.

Forum Moderation and Discipline
People should know that we basically exercise a zero tolerance policy here -- folks that have a pattern of attacking others in threads will receive a stern warning which may include a time-out.

If the member repeats the bad behavior despite the warning, his membership in the Forum will be permanently terminated ... no discussion, no appeals, no further communication. That's it, he's gone, and gone forever. And yes, we will, when possible, block his access to EVERYthing in the site -- Forum, Articles Archive, Daily Bulletin, you name it.

Thank you for your thoughts and comments.

PM,
As I am dumber than a box of rocks, when it comes to a Puter,
how does a member notify a Mod on this type of neg action?

Tia,
Don

This zero tolerance policy has me kind of worried, since my wife frequently informs me that my sensibilities are all out of whack when it comes to getting or giving insults -- or compliments. jd

Are you saying there is no room for differing opinions and disagreement?

I have often offered my differing opinion here and it has more often been disputed by someones actual facts.
:(
But then I may be, uh, not exactly correct.......

My thoughts on OK: Sir. I respectfully disagree with your opinion on this matter. I believe my thinking is more correct.

Not OK: Look! You're a stupid A$& hole if you think that retard fix will work!
I'm ALWAYS right and do it my way!!!:mad::mad:

Jds: I'm in the same boat. I think that's just because some wives opinions are an emotionally based moving target.:confused:

I've kinda learned to be a moving target when I say stuff. ;) There was that time when she told me to please think of sumpthin nice to say to her sister, and the best I could come up with was, "You sure don't sweat much for a fat girl." I never knew she had such a hook on her. jd

Nat basically said to just be nice if you disagree and no snappy answers or insults. I have had some instance when someone insulted me harshly and fell prey to the bait. I don't try to do anything like that anymore. We have been taught be respectful but there are argument baiters on here and I try to avoid anything like it.It just isn't helpful starting an argument over words. That is how wars start over sour words etc ,LOL

Someone has to be the adult. It seems that the more intelligent and educated are able to keep their emotions under control amidst irrational traffic both here and on the road.

It really comes down to online bullying. I'm no advocate for the whole safe place culture by any means. But this being a site to learn and spread useful information is more important. If you think that your way is the best way and not willing to listen to or give any useful information to a question or comment, just keep on your path. They're no reason to cut or disrespect anyone. Especially on a forum with such a large number of professionals and wealth of knowledge to learn from.
Help out when if you can, interject difference of opinion, rebuttal. But be an adult about it.

The actual problem is...
Some folks think they know everything form a to z and their way is the only correct way, and those who do things differently are stupid. At least that's how they come across in their writing.

If they can't word things in a way that is non-confrontational then they should not bother responding in other peoples threads.

It's not hard to say something in a way that doesn't sound like you have an axe to grind. Is it ???

Have received many very positive post on this thread. Let me first say my skin is much to thick to be offended about unprovoked thread crashers on my personal post. I am not trying to personally police this forum. I am provoked at the behavior of some posters whom I have highly respected. I too am not a tattle tail. Further more I am going to stoop to targeting a few poster with a taste of their own medicine. I feel like we should police ourselves. I have several really highly respected friends in the Firearms Industry who have quit posting on a number of the Shooting forums. It is sad to loose people of that caliber to a couple of self serving clowns. I figured that this thread might draw out a few of these folks and since Paul is following this thread I am sure he will take any action he may feel appropriate.

Or, I think you're wrong, but it ain't gonna kill anyone so I'm gonna keep my yap shut and continue on down the page....stuff.

Not my fight, but it never ceases to amaze me when a derogatory post followed by the question, "have you contacted the supplier?" gets a negative answer. One of my joys at this late stage in my life is to coerce suppliers to honour their promises or to clear the air when there's a misunderstanding.
