For him! Was about to pack it in as a Thunder Head was rolling by when I spotted this big Boar's head over a little rise in the shooting lane at 171 yards. Not a real tough shot however only his Head and part of his shoulder were exposed. I brought the .243AI with the 105 grain A-Max after my poor showing last hunt with my sub-caliber. It really wasn't the caliber's fault is was the "Nut behind the Bolt"! ;D He went 9.46 lbs. which is a good size for this time of the year! When I rolled him over to sex him he had the largest set of Testicles I've ever seen on a Chuck and I'll bet the Sows are upset! ;D

When I lived in New York and the few times I hunted them when I visited, was a GREAT time. I used to LIVE to go 'chuckin... Then once I move to Texas, I started shooting Prairie Dogs.. They are BOTH great sports! Great Job!!

Nice setup, MrM. And that doesn't appear to be a "drugstore" pipe either.

Have you ever tried the 'ski' type bipods the F T/R guys use? Do you get much hop with the bipod you are using? Or do you pre-load it?

You are correct Bill, it's a Savanelli and I really like their Balsa Wood filters for keeping things dry. I preload the bipod when prone but the slick top on the Stabile Table prevents it. I've been meaning to glue a rubber mat on top to get a little bite. I don't know if it hops but I can't stay on target to spot my hits even with the .20-.223AI and the 55's! This is no lightweight either and I need to rectify this. After reviewing ballistics all I give up to the .243AI/105 A-Max is terminal energy and if I could spot my hits and adjust my LR kill ratio should go up. Any thoughts?

Nice job and setup. A little tip for the harris bipods with the rubber feet. I use the little carpet sample squares that you can get from home depot for free. They are about 3x3" and are carpet on top and a flat slick surface on the bottom. No hopping.

Boy do I miss the woodchuck days, the last 15 yrs or so, they have become nonexistent in my area of NY.

Besides eliminating the hop (I like my ski type bipod), you need the recoil to come straight back. I fashioned a piece of PVC pipe that screws to the sling stud hole and rests on the bottom of the grip. So now my rifle slides straight back and I get to see most of my hits and misses.

Nice setup Bill, my butt hook kinda defeats the purpose! As you saw utilizing my range mat has helped but still can't see my hits. : Perhaps with the .20-.223AI?
