Universal decaping die for small flash hole. 6br and ppc cAses

Thought Sinclair made best, uses Hornady large and small decaping pins, but currently on back order. Any,other ideas, have Forester but not impressed when time to replace shaft and pin. Looking for similar to Sinclair. Does lee have multiple pins, or does one size fit all?

I bought a Lee, pin was to big for the smaller flash holes you mention (PPC, BR, etc) the pin isn't replaceable but it's holder is just like the decapper in a Wilson neck die. I chucked it up in the drill press and with a file, 400 grit sand paper and 7 min later I had a decapper that works perfectly for everything.

I think the die was less than $12 at Cabelas too, kinda hard to beat.

Mine's a Redding. They have a pin that is perfect. IIRC, you may have to buy a set of two dies, large and small. As always Redding quality is Top Notch.

same here. easy peasy

Redding with the exception if you do .17s, it takes a different rod. Would NOT buy or use a Lee, the pin is made from cold rolled (soft) steel and prone to bending and it won't work on .059 flash holes, only the large ones. You can try and make it smaller by any means available but why bother when there are other, better options. If I am depriming staked or crimped military brass, I use a Dillon. No experience with the Sinclair but that brass will destroy others.

Thanks all. At this point I'll call Sinclair Monday am and see when they expect their decaping die to be back in stock. Given the feedback, shouldn't be too difficult go find a solution if Sinclair is way out, date wise, on back order.

Hog, I dislike to disagree, but the Lee de-capper rod (at least mine) tests harder than mild steel by quite a bit. I honed mine down with a stone and the electric drill to fit my Lapua 6 BR cases and have had no problem. -- Then coincidentally, I discovered that it is the perfect diameter to put the final expand on my 20 cal. cases. (rod mics at .2025") I'm gonna keep an eye on it to see if it starts losing dimension, but for now it's become my "De-capper/Expander" option. jd

Maybe they changed the material. I can hit mine with a file and it's soft. It even looks like it's just a piece of cold rolled steel. You can bend the end with your finger. I ground mine on a centerless grinder to .056 and cut the other end down in a lathe and hit it with the same grinder so now when one end bends/breaks, I can turn it over and use it. I still prefer the Redding. Those pins are hardened.

The Lee universal decapping die was a bit tight for 6br, once I uniformed the flash hole with the k&m tool, everything was fine.

+1 and order a few extra decapping rods.. Super easy to swap out and they only break when you need it most..

I have no clue what the Sinclair decapper looks like, but I use the RCBS 22-25 Cal decapper with Hornady #396618 pins which are .056" diameter for almost all my decapping needs.

Thanks to all that replied. Sinclair/Brownells just let me know my new Sinclair universal decaping die is in the mail. Hope it's all they say it is. If it ain't I'll let you know!
