Help...22 Hornet Decaping but Flash hole is being damaged....PROBLEM

I am going to reload 22 Hornet brass for the first time. I am starting with a Lee hand press and sinclair universal decaping die. (I have a forster Co-Ax press with forster dies also).

When I decap the hornet brass the pin is super tight in the flash hole. After decaping the flashole looks like it was reemed out and jagged.

Are the flashholes in S&B and Hornady brass smaller than .223 brass flash holes? The Sinclair die works fine for .223

I tried using the forster FL die and the flash hole pulled the decaping pin out of the decaping insert in the forster die.

I would take the decap pin and chuck it in a drill and use silicon carbide paper or 120 grit emery and spin it to sand it down to make about half the pin undersized to fit without destroying the brass.

Alternatively ream the primer flash hole to normal small primer specs. I have used Hornet brass from a variety of US manufacturers with no issues.

I have some military 223 brass that have a smaller flashole that I had the same problem untill I used the smaller pins

RCBS universal de-capping die works on everything from PPC to 416 Rigby. But I don't have a Hornet. Measure the d-cap pin in your sizer die. Should be .062" . If it isn't open flash hole to fit.

I just ordered a Redding decaping die and small pin for this brass. I will try that and if it still is too large, use some emory and spin it thinner. I will make that die just for the Hornet. Special little bugger as it is.

Received my Redding die and small pin. Works great, until the pin bent. Must have been missing the flashhole and I pressed too hard. The pin is kind of soft and should have been made from some harder steel. I am going to ask the guys in the machine shop if they can make me pin from harder steel. Otherwise thismis the correct pin die setupmfor 22 Hornet decaping. I ordered two more pins they come wednesday.
