Although Handicap racing is nice....One design racing would be very similar to your concept. The nice part about "one design"
competition is the ability of the person is the most important, not, the size of his checking account. It was, and still is a very good concept. The caliber really does, not matter, nor does it matter that 6PPC is better than 6BR, because you aren't really competing against them in a "one design" concept.
I think 6BR would be cool, only so you can get a feel how you would score in an open match. 6PPC would not be a desire able, as it requires more work for the begin er to re-load. Even .243 or 223 would be acceptable, as long as everyone was shooting the same gun. For it to work, the rules must strictly be enforced for construction, so you don't get "cheaters". It could be a factory class with no mods allowed. The gun would be cheaper, because of the "economy of scale". Someone such as Savage could make a ton of money, and it would be a win-win situation.
