There are property owners in Pasco County Florida whose land is still flooded 4 months after hurricane Helene due to a nearby home development built several feet above grade. There is no place for the water to go and the county has no solution.

The 450,000 square-foot facility will utilize a "modern manufacturing system" that can produce "all components" of the ammunition, including case and projectile.

The United States Army continues to conduct testing and training on its XM7 and XM250 – the new rifle and automatic rifle that were developed as part of the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) program to replace the legacy M4 Carbine and M248 light machine gun. Both small arms are chambered for the new 6.8 Remington Special Purpose Cartridge.

Hopefully this will alleviate Uncle Sam causing Citizen's Ammo Shortages
I'm sure many of you read about how unrelated agencies like Social Security Admin were buying things like
500,000 rounds

There can still be an issue with the resources feeding into these plants. Hopefully if Ukraine comes to some sort of resolution, and the restocking ends, we'll return to some kind of normality.

The US can build new ammo factories, but as long as the US ship stays on its current course it will not help a lot in a long run. There are deficiencies of democracy here in Europe, but this speech was a simple mistake in diplomatic terms. "New sheriff in town" seems to treat international policy like a construction project. I am just waiting when he's going to file for chapter 11 on behalf of his lovely team of ignorants like the one below.

So we're trying to conserve, cut waste and pay down the debt and we're going to build a 450Ksq.ft. facility to manufacture an experimental round? What could go wrong?
Yeah, I can't help but wonder/worry about the concussion? blast from being around a lot of firings, even w ear protection.

It might be a good idea on paper, initially. But it's Government. I think we need to concentrate on able bodies and minds first, drones (air power), second and a whole crapload of common sense third, which can be plugged in anywhere.

For a military that likely can't find 25% of soldiers that can or ever will be proficient with this new cartridge, it seems like a lot of money to dump on an ammo facility that can be reduced to rubble with a few, well, placed bombs.

I am impressed with what the Ukrainians have been able to do with drones. Most dirt-bound war vehicles are obsolete, IMO.

Traditional wars, using old strategies, make no sense to me. If the skillsets of 18-21 year old troops lend themselves to video games we should take full advantage of that reality. Our enemy shoots bullets at us we will send drones as a reply.

Miller time.

Thank you fx77. A little reality check always comes in handy when we start down the woulda, coulda, shoulda road.
If for just a moment we stop and relook at what the 6.8spc made for and the greedy people running that company who rushed the cartridge into testing before it was ready to be tested, we can see what that cartridge can and does do.

Some wildcatters took the time to find the correct twist rate for the barrel and the 6.8 came to life. People who have actually used it with the 1:11 or 1:11.25 barrels are taking elk at 300+ yards with it, yes when I was still hunting I was one of those people. Those same people found that it could safely be pushed to and sometimes past 2900 fps. depending upon the powder/barrel used, that was years ago, what will it do with better barrels and powders now?

Bullets don't need to go a million feet per second to kill the the person you are aiming at. Look at the lowly 7.62x39, it has killed more people than any other bullet there is. And no matter how much it is laughed at, almost everyone has one, "just in case".

New 6.8 mm cartridge is pointless, I dont care how flat it shoots.
The new war is drones vs personal and armor and drones dont care what bullet you have in your rifle. The US should invest in manufacturing drones not
ammo.

Look remarkably like a description in Revelation of a stinging locust...

Whose gonna pay for it? We're broke!

Oh wait, silly me, the Chinese will buy our debt. Thank goodness for the Chicoms. Where would we be without them? :D

They'll probably buy it like they've bought everything else.

Let's see if this new fangled 6.8mm round is still being given to front line units 5 years from now. I kinda doubt it.

Now that they are making better 5.56 projectiles, I'm for sticking with it.

Who ever buys our debt.

Note, below link is not just an ad to purchase; it gives significant data/info comparing the old/new M855/M855A1…..
