If for just a moment we stop and relook at what the 6.8spc made for and the greedy people running that company who rushed the cartridge into testing before it was ready to be tested, we can see what that cartridge can and does do.
Some wildcatters took the time to find the correct twist rate for the barrel and the 6.8 came to life. People who have actually used it with the 1:11 or 1:11.25 barrels are taking elk at 300+ yards with it, yes when I was still hunting I was one of those people. Those same people found that it could safely be pushed to and sometimes past 2900 fps. depending upon the powder/barrel used, that was years ago, what will it do with better barrels and powders now?
Bullets don't need to go a million feet per second to kill the the person you are aiming at. Look at the lowly 7.62x39, it has killed more people than any other bullet there is. And no matter how much it is laughed at, almost everyone has one, "just in case".
