Ultrasonic cleaner

I use an ultrasonic for brass works great want to try it with my hi end sporting clays shotgun receivers
Anyone have any experience with this

They work pretty good with receivers. The hotter the water the better with some simple green or purple power cuts grease if they’re really dirty.

Mine has a Plastic basket.
I put small things in baggies or jars with cleaner & regular water in the cleaner.

Is there an issue of ruining the bluing when using ultra sonic? I have a fairly good sized one I haven't used yet for fear of messing something up. I had a link from this site years ago about someone who cleaned large belt feed guns in an ultra-sonic because they were so hard to disassemble and reassemble.

I've been using an ultrasonic cleaner for handguns for over 20 years.

The best solution I have found is the Lyman Ultrasonic metal cleaner concentrate. I found that a stronger dilution works better for me. 20:1.

I drain the solution into a jug and use the same dilution for cleaning my bike derailleur, cassette and chain.

Everything gets rinsed in hot water and blown dry from the air compressor.

Be very careful with what cleaning solution you use. I know for a fact that Simple Green will remove bluing from a Remington 700 receiver.

I've used a small chemistry beaker , hot water , a few drops of Lemmi-shine , and some Dawn to clean Handgun and Pieces from a rifle bolt that were grungy , to say the least .
Run the cycle a full thirty minutes . Rinse with hot water , and blow with low pressure air gun / compressor . Lightly oil all those parts with some type of Lubricant to prevent any rust potential .

I clean my muzzle brakes in my sonic cleaner. I put them in a mason jar and poke small holes in the lid. I only submerge them part way, with enough hoppe's or carb out to cover the brakes. I run them for several cycles and the water temp is about 80 Celsius.

Be careful cleaning aluminum parts in a sonic cleaner. Mine says this is a no no.
