Tough to beat a 243 or 6 CM for a serious do all yote getter
thats a lot of dogs...wowAnd there's a guy I know that shot 552 coyotes last year, & is over 400 for this year.
His cartridge of choice is a 22-250 with 52 Bergers.
I may suggest that this a sign that pelts are near worthless in recent times. In that case a dead coyote is the primary goal & a 243 as well as the 6mm ARC is certainly up to the task. barrel life could give the 6mm ARC the nod when choosing between 243 win & 6mm ARC IMHOI defer to the most experienced predator hunter I know, my son in law. He has killed more coyotes and fox with all kinds of calibers. But he says everything he has used takes a back seat to his old time cartridge of .243 win. He has a very similar setup shown in the video with those heavy tripods and thermal scopes. I believe almost all of his coyote hunting buddies have abandoned the 22 cals for various 6mm variety cartridges. And using most are using 70-80 grain bullets. He says they are just much more efficient killers for long shots.
Im really surprised how heavy some of the setups are that Ive seen that my son in law uses. Those really heavy tripods ,combined with a precision rifle and thermal scopes are not that light when put together. Those tripods make for a very steady shot. My grandaughter killed 7 yotes and 9 fox this past season with that gun and she just turned 13 yrs old. She likes it much more than deer hunting because they are not sitting in one spot. She says its more exciting. I think her dad has her hooked.I’m a pretty successful predator hunter/caller, and I think a coyote rifle should be short and somewhat light, with the weight in the barrel and a high end optic like the Swarovski z5-Z8i.
I’ve shot a lot of 22s and they all give things up to a small or medium 6mm shooting a bullet weighing 60-80 grains.
If you think it’s cool to shoot them at hundreds of yards, then just take whatever you can shoot the best at 600 with, but that’s far from my cup of tea.
Did someone say 505 Gibbs???My ultimate coyote rifle would be the .505 Gibbs double rifle. With that you don't have to worry so much about shot placement, which everyone know is the key to a successful one shot kill.

I should have said this past season he's over 400, & the season before was 552.1.5 yotes a day 365 strong. Even a 40 hr a week job is 2.2 a day. 3.44 per day already this year(no days off).
When I had a SAKO Vixen Hunter in 6mm PPC, I spent time developing an accurate load an ,I wound up using a 70gr Nosler bullet over H322.You know, I like that stock. But I’m going to have to stick with my original 6 arc, a Sako 6PPC. You can’t beat a 65gr bthp at 3400 fps. Drops em every time.
