I set my neck turner to touch the neck. Then I feel the shoulder/neck junction and see if I can detect an edge feel with a fingernail. Magnifying glass also helps. I do dig into that neck but oh so little that is is barely felt and seen.
Doing that on a brand new case to be fire formed is important to just get the case in. For .268" throats I cut my necks to .011". Remember that junction is where the case headspaces before and after the fire forming. No need to jam if you don't cut into the shoulder but a teeny bit.
