Tuned TX200 springer is back......

As far as an airgun page, probably all it would take is money. The boss has already mentioned that the work load to keep this site running has become such that he needs to hire some help. I don't know if that's happened yet.

I shot some Diablo 4.5 pellets,8.4 gr today. The shot as well as the H&NFTT . Shot several 1/4 inch groups free recoil. The Diablos are slippery. They almost feel lubricated, much easier to load. They could become my go to pellet. Then I tried holding the rifle a bit more, sorta as if I was shooting a varmint rifle. It shot almost as well with an occasional, flier ususlly .5 or so high. Seemed related to holding it lighter than the previous shot. Still every thing would have head shot a chipmunk at 24 yards. I also removed the plastic ball filled been bag in the rear bag . I put a used drier sheet in my tall eared squeeze bag, it worked fine. I might try some offhand tomorrow, at least for a few shoots until I get disgusted.

What are you using for front and rear bags/rest? I can’t seem to find the right combo and being an underlever precludes using a bipod.

I use a conventional front rest with a jersy bag filled with little plastic beads sold at Staples to rest your wrists on while on a keyboard. At the rear another one of the Staples bags or a regular tall earred squeeze bag with very lightly filled ears with a used drier sheet between the butt and the bag.

How's that rifle shoot from field positions if it likes to be held loose?
I was playing with that yesterday. I was shooting it like I would a light recoiling varmint rifle. I discover if I put a little more shoulder into it than when I shot the first few shots it did almost as well as free recoil. It will work because that rifle has dominated the World Field Target Championships from what I have read for many years. Shooting these well takes effort, practice, and an open mind. If you want to just pick it up shoot little groups while pretty much just concerning yourself with conditions, you will like a PPC. I feel right now with only a couple weeks of working at it any squirrl that holds stll under 50 yds will suffer a severe headache. I hope to stretch that out to a bit farther as my skill improves. Just me, my rifle, and a tin of pellets.

Did some experimenting today at the range. Shooting 24 yards I shot four 5 shot groups. I did not measure them but the would all be in the high 2s to mid 3s. Than I played around not using the bags shooting a few shots different ways. Finally I shot 2 groups holding the rifle with the left hand under the forend towards the front with my hand laying on the front rest. Rear hand holding the pistol grip with the butt against my shoulder, no rear bag involved . I shot .173 and .183. It's getting better. I also changed from shooting colored notebook paper reinforcement hole rings. The center seemed a tad to small, my eye was straining to center the xhair at times. Instead I shot IBS 100yd rings made with an ink stamper . That was a bit larger and easier to center the xhair on. I mixed the groups changing pellets. I am strongly leaning to the PA Diablo 8.44 gr .451 pellet. It just feel It's easier to shoot small with them. I feel a large order coming on.

Interesting how well you shot with no rear bag, I will have to try that. Got my first efforts in with my new HW97, but so far limited to 12 yards in basement, far too cold outside for me. Only have cheap Crosman pellets for now but better ones are on the way. Looking very promising so far.

Very nice. I have always advocated that in the center fire bench rest their should be a bonus for every shot in the 10 ring and a penalty for every shot out . So if you shoot a .100 in the 10 ring it becomes a .095. If all your shots are outside the 10 ring you would get a .105. The idea of a gun is to hit something. Group guys squeal but they only really shoot 4 shots. The first one is free.

My favorite discipline is .22lr USBR (the green monster) - one shot per bull. And you'd better not miss, scores drop fast!

Cool rig, looks like you got the scope and rings worked out. Nice shooting for cheap pellets and the first time out.

Thanks. It is short range though. The real test will be when I can stretch it out outside. That’s when my weaknesses really shine. lol
