Tuned TX200 springer is back......

You will probably like it AFTER you get it tuned. I agree with justinp61 that a TX200 would only be a lateral move. The Weihrauch is a very nice German air rifle. One option for tuning is Airgunwerks in Tennesee. David Slade was factory trained at some of the top manufacturers in England. When I got my HW97 back from him the difference was night and day. Smoother shot cycle and the trigger is very good now.

What caliber did you get ?
Thanks for that info. I ordered mine in .22, thinking (hoping) it will be less susceptible to wind.

I went into this with .22 in mind. But everyone I talked with said pure accuracy in a springer go .177, and I did. Its like ic you want to shoot both group and score , should you buy a PPC or a 30 BR. I guess we pay our money and take our chances. If several of us have different brands and calbers it will be interesting to see how they do for us. 3 or 4 ce ts per round, no cleanig, no loading.....whats not to like.

I should have done a little more research on what would actually be the best caliber for my purposes. I was getting pumped (pun intended) and maybe bought just a little too quickly. I do tend to go off half-cocked (pun again) sometimes. I was also considering use for occasionally popping a squirrel around the house, and the ability to use my borescope in the .22 barrel.

You will still be the weak link. .22 is definitely better if you have any interest in playing. That 30 to 50 percent extra weight is very important for clean kills. I can still get 1/4 MOA and by the time you shoot out to 50 yards it's about a wash.

lol, you must have heard my reputation - I'm ALWAYS the weak link!

Researching rings and one-piece mounts now, looking for best option. Ordered a UTG 1-piece high mount and I also have a set of Burris Signature Zee rings that come with stop pins. Only problem is, they are medium height and both scopes I am considering using have 50mm objectives so I don't think they'll
make it. Any advice is very gratefully accepted.

I had a Diana 48 in .22 and sold it, the rifle was a hammer and a scope killer. I also have a Diana 34 in .177 and have killed squirrels out of my pecan trees with it. The main purpose of my TX200 will be to kill sparrows and starlings off my bluebird boxes, it shoots the 10.65's at 15.4 ft lbs and 8.44's at 15.25 ft lbs.

According to Krale, my rifle will be at 14.7 ft lbs. But there is no mention of what pellet weight produces this.
I realize that I have MUCH to learn - please bear with me.

I have a leupold 4.5-14 with a 40mm (2.033" od) AO on this rifle mounted in BLK medium rings and have about 1/4" between the bell and rifle.

I'm by no means an expert, just a dumb ole country boy who isn't afraid to take things apart to see what makes them tick. LOL

Does burris make z rings to fit a dovetail? I've never used them.

They do. They also have a hole in each ring for a stop pin. Unfortunately, these will be too short to mount the scope I have in mind I believe.

Any issues with slipping with the BKL rings?
I’ve used them in the past and like them, but haven’t on a springer.

Finished with the snowblower about 9:30 this morning and headed to the range after a cup of coffee and a piece of my wife's homemade bread with applebutter on it.I shot 3 groups with the pellets I have been using each 5 shots at 23 yards. If I shoot at 25 yards the ventilation system never lets the target quite moving so I found if I back up to 23 yards I am out of the flow. The groups were .279, .297, and .094. Then I tried some wadcutter style 10 meter pellets that are 1 grain lighter than the domed pellets I have been using. Shot several groups , all were around .8. It did not like them. So now I am home, no gun cleaning or reloading required. Probably spent .50 on ammo this morning. No back to making new 30BR cases, current ones I made in 2007. It's time, lol.

Those .094 groups will keep you coming back. That's some operator skill right there, no way that's by accident.

I don't know what domed pellets you are using but every rifle I have will shoot JSB pellets.

I don't clean my air rifles often but usually after each 500 pellet tin I do a light cleaning, ( but praise God, I've never had to remove a carbon ring). I have an FX smooth twist barrel on my Airforce Condor and it has to be cleaned about every 50 pellets, but it'll send .25 pellets through the same hole at 50 yards. But mostly it is for squirrel removal when they get into the cars.

One thing for sure, shooting groups with a springer will teach you good bench manners. Since I shoot free recoil this is right down my alley. I am shooting H&N 4.5mm 8.64 grain Field Target Trophy. After shooting all winter maybe I will challenge my shooting buddies to arm wrestle left handed for ice cream cones.

Good to hear. I already have, in my "box o' many parts" a set of BKL groove to Weaver adaptors. That will give me the height to use my standard Signature Zee rings with the scope I'm planning to use.
Thanks!
Danoh,

I have a similar set up, dovetail to weaver conversion with Burris Signature medium height rings using a Bushnell Elite 4.5 - 30 scope. Even at less than 12ft lbs the adaptors would creep under recoil, so just needed one of the adaptors drilling and tapping for a stud that locates in one of the holes in the receiver, no more issues and looks a really neat installation. This is a AA Prosport by the way but the same receiver as the TX I believe.

Good tip, thanks. I have an HW97K enroute instead of a TX, but I'm sure it will be similar.
